I was thinking of all the Stangs sold, S550 that is, these respondents represent maybe 1 in 50, or 1 in 100 , maybe more . I don't know. Odds are good I won't get one with this problem.

The proper way to think about it is like this:

That thread (and some of the minuscule others outside of that thread on this site) only contains responses from people who either:

1) Have access to the Internet and googled for such info
2) are internet savvy and again were directed to or found that thread

It does not take into fact that the driveline mod IS a GENUINE concern and that it's highly probable that new S550 owners are experiencing the issue but:

1) have not found the thread or this site
2) don't use the Internet
3) don't realize that it IS an issue, because MANY Dealers are telling S550 owners (who don't know anything about mechanics) that such a vibe is "a normal characteristic of the Mustang"... (and it's not)

Not to mention (2) very important facts as well:
1) This driveline vibe issue was mentioned in the documentary "A Faster Horse"
2) Consumer Reports documented it in their October 2015 article

We are going into MY 2017 where the problem still exists; Ford still does not have any TSB and their Dealers are still relying on contacting their Engineer Teams for proper diagnosis... Which in some instances, brand new vehicles are being kept for longer than 2 weeks time for a resolution.

The question should be:
Why are brand new vehicles still leaving the line with the issue, going into the 3rd model year?

Well, I would surmise it more like this. 45% of the people who voted in the poll is probably a pretty good cross-section of owners. There is no reason that the majority of S550s coming off the factory line with a vibration problem should just so happen to fall in the hands of a Mustang6G member instead of someone else that doesn't even know this chat board exists. That would be strange statistically, and very unlikely.

Best way to ensure you don't get one with a vibration issue it to test driver the hell out of it before signing the purchase paperwork.

When they were trying to diagnose my car, the service manager drove all 8 of the Mustangs on the lot and said 3 of them had the problem. So, the 40% range seems plausible. I would not take delivery of the car until you have driven it 50 miles on a variety of roads. You need a nice smooth hwy and test the car in 5mph increments from 55 up to 75. Usually it is pretty noticeable at 65-70 if it has the problem.

^^^ Actually that's not true for all, mine starts around 45 and is smooth by 60 all the way to 100.

Without vibration analyzer readings, it's impossible to tell if people are even referring to the same issue. A vibration for one person can feel non-existant for another, and vice-versa. Diagnostic readings from an electronic vibration analyzer are the only equalizer.

I've never worked with any engineer that would call a noticeable vibration a "normal characteristic". Which of course makes me question 99% of the complaints on this forum in which the only person who can feel the "vibration" is the poster, and all of course they only start to complain about said "vibration" after reading about it on internet forums :doh:

It's true but I appreciate you calling me a liar. Just look at the poll numbers for this thread. I asked the SM if they would fix them before selling them and he said they wouldn't do anything to them unless the customer complained. Great business model. BTW, you and fordtechone should start your own forum where you disbelieve and insult anyone who says anything you disagree with. Oh wait, you already do that here.
