I have been dealing with the road vibration excuse for a while until I took my car to a particular dealership in Orange two days ago, and the tech confirmed the issue so they ordered a new drive shaft. However, they said the clanking noise when shifting gears is normal! I saw that you live in So Cal so I might be able to help.
Hope it does works changing driveshaft. I was going to bring home tools to measure runout on mine. Still trying to get my work to use analyzer at home over weekend.
Ford could try putting driveshaft with rear together and balance it as whole unit. I don't think at this time any of manufactures do this. Right now everything done separately in theory should come out ok when everything put together
