*bump*

Just went over the window sticker and it looks like they've screwed up my order and it doesn't include the spoiler delete like I'd asked them to. Grrr.
(The initial quote had it, but was for an automatic. When I asked them to change it to a manual and leave everything else as quoted, they seem to have screwed up and I didn't catch the omission of the spoiler delete in time).

To make things 'worse', I've got a build date of 02/10 so it's too late to make any changes.

Any experiences in a DIY delete so far? While I'm not at all happy with the spoiler, I'll probably accept delivery as-is and try to fix it myself. I don't want to wait any longer.

Lots of people did it on the 99-04 Mustangs. They used little black plastic push-in plugs to fill the holes and painted them body color. It's not the best looking solution, but it's the easiest and cheapest.

Try searching google. I just found a few pics and even a video on youtube.

Exactly why I ordered spoiler delete. Can always add it later but left with holes if you don't order it that way.

Another reason why you should carefully look at the posted window sticker as soon as it is available on COTUS. You never know what else may have been removed or added to your order by mistake. Of course, the assembly line could make an error but you would have removed one layer of regret.

Yeah, I've seen those. Not quite what I'd want to do on a '15 car.
Guess I'll make a trip down to the body shop and see what they can do for me..

Yeah. I did go over it numerous times, but it's tricky to spot an omission of anything if you're not going over it line-by-line.
Lesson definitely learned though. Don't trust anyone but yourself to get it exactly right.

I toiled over the delete/ not delete option (early after ordering). I examined an 051A V6 convertible in the dealer show room VERY closely. It has 3M tape the entire underside. I went into parts dept. and he showed me an expanded view of the spoiler and trunk lid. The lid has two 'locating holes' a few inches inward of the trunk side edges. We could not tell if these were bolt ons, 'just pins to locate'. I actually do not recall if we saw hardware to go on the mounting pins. But, though it is overkill I suspect these are plastic pins with round 'press on' retainers just like on the front grille's Pony. If so, that pin would need to be snapped off to allow the spoiler to come off.

This would cause a problem when the sawing fishing line got to a pin. You would need to be able to lift the spoiler enough to get the broken off locating pin high enough to allow the fishing line to get past it. Maybe doing this in the sun on a 100Âş day, plus a blow dryer or heat gun would make this easier.

I decided to not 'mess with my order' and cause any excuse for a delay. ;) My thinking was that there would likely be a way to remove it. AND after a week or so, that would not notice the two very small colored plugs. I was VERY glad not to have the XM antenna in the middle of the trunk lid (on convertible)! To me THAT was hideous. I listen to XM via my phone, so do not want or need that XM antenna eyesore (my opinion).

But I am guessing if a premium package were available with a V6 convertible, I would have gotten over the XM bump to get all the other very cool stuff. So, like they say, It's all about your relatives... ;)

What about switching the entire trunk lid with someone that wants the spoiler but has the PP? Like me?

Comp Orange. I don't have it yet. 2 weeks. What all would be involved in doing this? Since I don't have one yet to loon at.

Adding this here since someone requested it. After watching Russian's video on installing rear GT badges, I decided to give removing my spoiler a go to see what was under it (and vinyl wrap or dip it). This is what the trunk looks like without the spoiler.

Factory spoiler has 2 plastic tabs, 4 bolts, and 3 guide pins along with the adhesive.

Yeah, I know. It's not like it's an STI / EVO wing creating all kinds of down force on the rear wheels. This thing is barely a blip on the trunk and has 9 holes. The adhesive was strong enough (I have no fingerprints from getting that shit off).

I guess they really wanted that thing on there.

Yeah I had an Acura a while back I changed the spoiler on that only had 3 or 4 holes. Honestly, I kind of like the look of the stock spoiler but a change in the future isn't out of the question although it looks like it will be a decent amount of effort to go spoiler-less.

Thanks for the picture! That should definitely help out with everyone considering taking theirs off.

What method did you find the best for removing the tape and glue?
