My buddy recently switched from Amsoil to Pennzoil, with Amsoil he was going through a liter about every couple thousand miles. With Pennzoil, nothing. His engine is tight n right. I think it's the evaporation rate of the Amsoil (though could be other things). NOT saying amsoil is bad mind you. Could very well be happening with other oils as well. Interesting nontheless.

NOACK volatility is a thing.
I think Amsoil signature series beats almost everything in NOACK volatility though

What oil weight is he using? same driving style? I couldnt find noack for pennzoil ultra platinum 5w30 but heres amsoil signature series :

Also heres a real world test of amsoil signature series vs pennzoil ultra platinum including heat evaporation

pennzoil did win the heat evap test slightly

5w20, as for same driving style, I dunno. I would assume similar? And again, I'm NOT saying Amsoil is bad.

I’ve noticed less oil in my catch can when I switched to Pennzoil Ultra platinum vs mobil1. My car doesn’t use any oil and by no means is there ever a lot of oil caught but enough that I thought “there’s less oil than normal in this trap”.

Pennzoil is one of the best oil you can buy worldwide. Natural gas synthetic made in lab.
I personally think it outclass amsoil and any other oil imo, but this is going to get outta control if anyone give their concern on what oil is best or not.

Simply stated;
Sometimes an oil can be to slippery.
I’m holding out that the API will reclassify Group III+, GTL oils deserve their own classification divorced from group III.

The only place I can think that an oil can be too slippery is in a roller bearing situation. Like a Harley engine.
