Hey everyone. I’m getting ready to install the red Steeda diff bushing inserts.

on the rear ones, with your car off the ground, the CjPonyParts video says just loosen the subframe bolts a little, and do the bushings with the car in the air. (Their video shows the car in the air on a 2 post lift with no support on anything)

the Steeda video and install instructions call for you to support the front subframe after you loosen the subframe bolts.

what do I need to do?

I only plan to do the rear bushings for now. Thanks.

I’ve done this job twice on 2 different cars. I loosen the front subframe bolts but remove the rear. Enough that it droops down. I had a floor jack under the pumpkin. Then I use that jack to raise the subframe back in place. Put in the rear bolts, then remove the front and let the front droop.

Okay but what if I’m doing just the rear?

So I don’t think you can do just the rear diff support bushings. You have to remove the bolts holding the diff and replace each bolt with 2 bolts. 1 from the rear and 1 from the front of the diff. So if you remove the factory bolt, you wouldn’t have the bolt from the front to support the duff completely.
Idk if you could just use the long factory bolt with the rear bushings.

What? I’m talking about the rear differential bushing inserts from Steeda. They come with supplied hardware. There’s no reason I wouldn’t be able to do just the rears, many people on this forum have done just that.

If I was doing just the rears do I just loosen the rear bolts?
If memory serves me correctly, I found it best to lower the subframe and in doing so, it made sense to do front and rear. I recall it being nearly impossible to gain proper access with my 1/2” drive torque wrench without dropping it. I also used Steeda’s through bolt kit after watching a video of a guyshear his right off doing a test of his line lock just minutes after he completed the install with the regular supplied bolts. He damaged his axle boot as a result and had to send the axle in to DSS for repair. I say all of that to encourage you to do front and rear if you can.

What if I just buy the upgraded bolts?
I’m afraid a shop isn’t going to want to throw them over the torn bushings and I certainly don’t want to/can’t do it myself.

If you’re set on doing just the rears, I would at least get the upgrades bolta.

Can you link which bolts I exactly need to get? It’s not the 180 dollar ones right?

also I don’t launch my car at all. $180 seems excessive for 2 bolts
