Curious, can I install just the rear diff bushing inserts whilst I wait for someone to install the front? I don’t feel comfortable doing the front on my 2017 GT.

I ran that way for a while. Eventually I cut a long piece of all thread into 4 10" long pieces to drop my cradle a lot more and then installed the fronts. Even then it was not easy. Assemble the washer and insert on the bolt and then angle it up and in to position.

Do you just undo the rear subframe bolts one at a time, and keep the differential supported with a jack?

Yes. Exchange them one at a time. Of course you'll need stop nuts and washers too. No need for a jack although it speeds things up going down and would help when going back up.

This is basically a budget and temporary alternative to the kellytrac system. Parts from McMaster runs around $40. I can post a BOM if you plan to do this.

Also works well for pulling rear springs so you can get that extra bit of clearance with the control arm.

just have a torn bushing and I would like to put these in front of the bushing. Someone told me it was a remedy for my problem without replacing the whole bushing.

The major problem with torn diff bushing is that the capscrew that passes through the diff has a lot of play, up/down , side/side.

You need to remove that play. So I made my own inserts.
(see here upper right corner of diff.)

So basically the inserts are definitely needed, or are you saying I have to do actual bushings?

sorry I’m a dingaling. Lots of people told me to throw inserts on and call it a day.

What your talking about & what I'm talking about are two separate things. Inserts your talking about sandwich between the diff & rubber bushing.

What I'm taking about is I added inserts to the diff itself.

Since your bushing is torn, my method won't work.

However I would replace the bushing, then use whatever method you want.

If it was my car I would do both gap sleeves and inserts and I wouldn't replace the torn bushing. Because that is too much work.

It's a temp hack. Like a tire patch for a nail. It'll do for a while. If you drive like Grandma it'll probably last forever.
I don’t drive like a grandma but I definitely don’t push it to it’s limits all the time haha.
