Hey Guys,

I have a decision to make - The car i ordered just arrived at the dealership.
I live in Arizona now and will be moving to California in another 2-3 months.
I don't know if I should get the car now or should i wait till i get back to CA and then get it there.
The tax rates are not much different between the two places.
I have not made any down payments for the car, so i wont lose anything if I don't get it here.
I would like to know your thoughts (pros and cons) on this.
Thanks in advance

Duh, if the Sales Tax is the same and the Vehicle has the Options and Color your looking for, why wait? Everyone should have such difficult decisions to deal with.

OP, what would be your own pros and cons for getting the one you ordered now vs waiting? We can't help you until we get more info about your situation other than moving in 2-3 months.

Well to start off, this particular vehicle does not say CA emissions in the window sticker.
Next off, i was told by someone(pretty sure thats wrong info) that i need to pay sales tax on new vehicles (<7500 miles odo reading) after i move to California after doing the title/registration. Does anyone know about these laws?

When I moved from NYC to LA, I bought my current car (brand new 2013 Fusion) on the way. I did have to pay sales tax when I registered in California. It was approx $2,000.

ALL Mustangs are 50-state cars. To convince yourself, find the emissions label under the hood and read where it says it is compliant with CA emissions requirements.

I played around with the fee calculator on the CA DMV site (link below) and they will collect sales tax LESS the taxes you already paid to another state.

I checked out an Ecoboost model the other day and im pretty sure it said that particular vehicle is not compliant with CA emissions. How/where did you find the info that all models are CA emission ?

$2000 ? How much is the sales tax in NYC ? I see LA area tax should be around 9% including state, county and city.

This statement wouldn't add up to the $2000 that Roman paid.

You can have a 50 state federal emissions depending on state like Texas does not require California emissions... California emissions is in addition to the federal emissions... there are a few states that have the same as california... someone correct me if I am wrong because there are several different emmisions available for the mustang... 49 state, 50 state, non California and California... doesn't it depend on state?

Ive also noticed a difference in performance as well... California cars seem bogged down.... been going back and forth there for over 22 years

Im wondering this as well. Im gonna be moving from Hawaii to LA a few months after i get my Ecoboost. Ill have to pay shipping ($1,100 through Matson). Hawaii's state tax rate is 4.17%. So i would have to pay the difference in sales tax between 9% and 4.17% Or am i reading it wrong lol
