:ford:Your dealer (and I am one) should make sure that the car is washed properly. If you have no faith in them, then you might want to have them put it in the "We Owe" that an outside detailer washes the car for you prior to you taking delivery. That way they can inspect the paint for defects from factory, they have 7 days after the car drops to report it to Ford so that they will pay the dealer for paint issues. I deal exclusively with ROUSH Mustangs, so I have my own detail kit to make sure that my customer’s cars are show ready at delivery. In response to above post if you love your car that much and want it perfect then have them jump through the hoops, if it is for keeping the value up like a Shelby or ROUSH then that will not make any difference. Just make sure that the clear coat is still on and not peeling off at trade in time and you will get the same value

meh. it's a freaking car, not a Monet. Let them prep it, then you can detail it on your own in a few weeks.
This.

I'm anal about my cars, but I just told my salesman to put their best guy on it and don't wax it. All was, and is, well. Not a swirl mark to be seen.

The guy who bought the ford GT... K I get it.. The first Shelby in the dealer or the KR... I Get it... But a mustang gt Eco or v6... Not so much, these cars will be dime a dozen soon enough. (Posted by Willmkent).

Well, At 40 grand for my fully loaded eco vert, I doubt it will lose the value that you assume. Or at least, not as fast as you think. And that price was with the Z plan, which took off around 5 grand.
I'm not saying that it will drop to nothing but they just go down, especially if they are more common vehicles. the ECO mustang is taking the cake in sales so there will be quite a few out there. but even the GT, i mean i see one or two S197's per day, its not going to be rare like a shelby or a Ford GT... not saying beat the car up, but how can one enjoy their car by being so critical.. its not meant to sit under a cover and rot away, drive it, take it through rain.. if you HAVE to, take it through snow. its only a machine.

My dealer was not allowed to touch the car - I was there 30 minutes after delivery.

I have a suggestion...before the delivery, ask the dealer what is on their checklist for PDI. Have them give you a printout of it. Line out the items you don't want them to do and then explain why. Then ask for any feedback or negative impacts for your requests. Have the sales manager sign that request so you have proof that you discussed it with them.

Be polite and sincere and they should be willing to help you out.
