I'm primarily wondering about camber. Considering the amount of time and speed spent on the high banked ovals, would it be preferable to run a little less aggressive camber setting to put more tread on the ground on the oval (I'm thinking -2.2ish)? Or do you still run aggressive camber settings for the infield at the expense of running on more inside tread on the oval? Or am I overthinking this?

Relativistic quantum mechanics tells us the car and the tires do not know they are on a banked turn. How's that for overthinking?

I wouldn't assume my car needs less camber because of a bank. I would assume my G forces and speed go up.

Thanks for your reply. I guess I may have slightly miss-worded my concern; the oval also has level sections and I will be going faster than I ever have. I thought maybe I need all the tread on the ground I can get instead of running that fast on the inside tread with aggressive camber settings. I now assume I am overthinking it :)

I can't imagine overthinking anything when it comes to Daytona. Keep trying to get some reliable numbers from someone, but also be willing to hyper-focus on the tires every session and make adjustments as necessary.

Temperatures across the tread width are mandatory IMO.

Thanks Philip. I read your advice somewhere else to shoot for a 15 degree delta in temp across the tread. I've got a regular cheapo infrared temp gun and will see if it can focus small enough to take separate readings on inside and outside. If so, I suppose I'll have the answer to my camber question after my first session.

I use an IR gun and I think it's good enough for my purpose. The delta is to insure a little more wear on the inside, plus it is always in contact, e.g. on the straightaways.

I just started running Cup 2s and I achieved the desired delta. I hesitate to say this, for fear of getting flamed by other experts, but for now I have been running high pressures, too - in the low 40's. I still had terrific grip, got the proper temp delta, and wore 2mm tread for the 2 day event. I got a point-by from a GT350 and slowly pulled away from a GT500.

Eventually I will post some tips about how I easily switch between street and track front camber/toe.
