I am looking for recommendations on a HIGH QUALITY dash cam choices.

Looking for AT LEAST 1080p and 30fps... prefer 60fps and hgher res if possible.

What have you guys got, or tried? What are the goods and bads about dash cams.

Been looking at gopro 4 black, but there must be other choices out there.

Thinkware F750 here. 30fps and no support for 60fps. Has some features for traffic safety, red light camera alerts and all of that other good stuff.

No regrets buying it and I can't really name anything bad about it. Maybe the cost? Got lots of videos I've recorded from it on my build thread.

... but you already knew that :)
been using blackvue products since 2011. not disappointed.
extra fun bonus: had a ticket dismissed, and got a favorable settlement after a rear-end collision. it's paid for itself in spades. also lots of lulz, especially when i had it on my lotus and kept it running when parked!

Also +1 to Thinkware F750 1080p @ 30fps. Capable to doing front and rear.

See you put gopro are you looking at something for like recording events (drag, racing and "spirited driving") or dash cam in the sense of recording idiots on your daily drive lol.

GoPros are great but not for your typical "dash cam"

On the thinkware or the blackvue, can you control the over loop write time?

Do both time stamp?

The thinkware has timestamp, not sure what you mean bout loop time, but you can set it to overwrite which it is by default or stop recording all together, there is also settings to not delete motion saves and event saves (crash or parking mode hit sensor triggered)

Blackvue time stamps and you can optionally turn off or on the speed. Videos are recorded in 1-3 minute file (you can configure the time based on normal driving, event (shock, motion), or parking. Overall storage is just limited by space.

Anyone use a GOPRO?

I have a GOPRO Hero 4 Black. Says it has a 20 min continuous loop mode for dash cam use. Just seems like a pain to get it wired up for power.

Jump over to dashcamtalk for a couple hours and you will find a lot of discussion on various manufacturers and features. I think there are a lot of mid priced options - the recommendations in this thread seem like good choices as well. I'm currently looking at buying a few of the Street Guardian SGZC12SS.

A few months ago, I took one of my vehicles that didn't have a dashcam in it and of course got tagged. The driver decided he would play dumb and just not respond to inquiries from my insurance company. Guess what happens then? Your insurance company, without witnesses, decides it is a no fault accident and it could potentially impact your record. With multiple vehicles on my policy, I think my rates went up about $2k for all my cars for the year. Still so tilted over this.... So anyway, dashcams are going in all my cars.
