In the overhead map light cluster. It's a little tight but zip ties are your friend.
Awesome I'll check it out. Also, I've noticed that the A118c in your location makes it kinda hard to get the memory card out. I have it on the opposite side towards the driver.

trying to decide on a dashcam, never used one before. narrowed it down to either G1W-C or mini - 0805
...
I got the similar G1WH from Spy Tec via Amazon. When I first saw my videos I was very impressed with the quality. The mini is smaller, but I usually only notice my G1WH if I actually look for it (I have it mounted behind and slightly to the passenger side of the windshield, mostly blocked from my view by the mirror). The mini has GPS, if that is important to you. But this review: The Best Dash Cam makes interesting points about why a GPS camera could be a bad thing (speed recording).

I will only be using the videos for emergency situations so after reading reviews, I didn't see much difference, and opted for the $50 savings.

FYI, I've read that Amazon sometimes switches vendors for these cameras, so make sure you get whatever model you choose from a reputable seller, such as Spy Tec.

yeah i only want video recording with sound recording as well, i dont need anything fancy on it. Only reason i considered the mini was because some reviews said the G1W had a bit of shakes to the video. Ill only be using it for emergency situations if anyone tries to pull insurance fraud or hits me and says its my fault.

A bit, sure.
I took it out the other day after I got a ticket being a hooligan, haha, to check the evidence.

Pull the mirror all the way down and to the side and there's plenty of room. I can't pop it out with my finger, but a pen works perfect.

Although thinking about it now, yours is the better setup. I didn't consider use when I mounted it.

What do you guys think, worth it to spend the extra $40 on the mini?
I've had a G1W for a year and half now and when it came time to order a cam for my Mustang, I went with the G1W-C. The G1W has been great and I don't need anything more for my purposes. The only thing that made me look briefly at the A118C was the form-factor; the G1Ws are more conspicuous. In the end, I decided to save the $.

In your climate, I'd definitely opt for a capacitor model regardless.

Installed the A118C neatly behind the rearview mirror a couple weeks back. Hardwired it up to the mirror using an ebay kit with an inline fuse, so no cables to string around the pillars.

The video is surprisingly crisp for such a small gadget. Picks up audio very well too.
Can you post some pictures or videos of the night recordings or recordings with low light conditions? This is where most of the dash-cams fail.

Nowadays, when smartphone cameras picture's and video quality is very close to the DSLR cameras is pretty easy to get good quality video on the devices like that during the daylight conditions.

I'm using a Blackvue DR650GW-2CH - hacked up a cable so I can power it from the mirror ( sort of like a mirrortap ), ran the cable for the rear cam along the headliner, total install time perhaps 45 mins of messing around.

I am in the market for a dash cam this week and figured id stop in and ask you guys some questions since I know absolutely nothing about these. I am looking for a cam that will auto record over its self, so I can pull the memory card or pause recording if any event takes place that I want to keep. Im sure this is a common feature but again I have no idea. I am also looking for features such as night vision, or a cam that can see good in low light, As well as one that will begin to record with motion detection since I will have the car parked in a general lot for 40+ hours a week while at work. Not sure if these are crazy requests or not but any suggestions for this criteria is VERY much appreciated.

Also, once installation comes around, is it going to be possible to have my V1 radar detector and the dash cam hardwired using the "mirror tap" route. Or how would a hard wiring take place for this unit?

THANK YOU!

:) start reading : https://dashcamtalk.com/

:) they all record loops of ~3min video files which is about the standard now. after memory fills up they overwrite oldest files first

:) none have "night vision" - check reviews which has best low light

:) motion detection is a wasted feature as it never works on time. Invest in larger memory cards or dual memory cards and you will be able to record 9hours without problems. I imagine your car is parked for about that long?
The camera should have no issues running that long if hardwired to car battery
see https://dashcamtalk.com/battery-discharge-prevention/

:) lots of examples in this thread how hard wiring has been done including mirror tap.

I don't have an account there and can't see the pricing. How much they are selling it for?

I'm now looking at picking one up after a drunk asshole (also my neighbor) ran into my car last night. The massdrop for $335 looks to be a pretty good deal, but I wasn't looking to really spend that much. Does the Mobius have any kind of parking mode? From what I have read it just comes on with the car. One of the main reasons I would be buying is for parking mode.
