Dash cam blocking rear view mirror sensor?
I want to install a dash cam in front of the rear view mirror. There seems to be enough room and there is power available coming from the mirror connection.
However, Pg 75 of the user manual states "Do not block the sensors on the front and back of the mirror"! What sensor is built into the mirror that would look forward through the windshield?
If there is one...for those who have installed a camera between the windshield and the mirror...did the camera block the sensor?

Are you talking about automatic rain sensing wipers sensor? If so mine doesn't have that option and the camera is installed in the passenger side of the mirror.

I think he refers to the light sensor of the auto-dimming rear-view mirror - small clear area on the back of the mirror at the driver side...

My previous post in this thread I mentioned it was $80 plus tax for the install and I got the dash cam off eBay for around $200 US
(Blackvue dw530w)
That's awesome bro. Thanks for the nice infos. At least I know where to go for professional installation. Now just need the Car and more funds.

would you just power the mobius via USB or tap into power somewhere?
For Mobius....I leave mine plugged in all the time and have it set to record on motion sensing. Our cigarette port stays powered for 90 minutes so it'll continue to record motion after you park it up to 90 minutes. That's a nice security option to have! When driving it'll always detect motion and record. I suggest the highest motion sensitivity and the minimum delay of 5 seconds.

Thanks. I don't like the cord dangling in front of me. I would want to hard wire it....

Is anyone putting a camera facing out of the rear ?

Here you go. The clip on the dash is a 2-sided tape clip and peels off easily on that hard plastic, and it'll click open and closed to remove the wire if needed. When sitting in the driver's seat the camera is completely hidden behind the mirror. I can also give a configuration tutorial for the config software...when I get a chance. It's got powerful software and can do quite a bit.

FYI - The wire doesn't bother me at all. I thought it would but after a week you never notice it.

not bad at all, but i think i'd rather mount it on the dash just in front of the top vents by using one of their magnetic mounts as pictured from their site

https://www.mobius-actioncam.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Mobius-Magnet-Mount6-9442-1024x768.jpg

the dash cam package looks like it comes with everything i need

i want that clip u use to keep the wire neat though

I played around with dash mounting this on my other cars and the video is very shakey when mounted on the dash. It's amazing how much dashboards move with road vibrations. The glass is very solid.

This is how I have it set up in my Winter beater. If I had this set up in my Mustang I would go nuts. I opted for professional install, and wired directly into the car so my ports are free.

the new mini 0806 is looking good. Has all the features mentioned. Ultra high def and I love that it has dual microSD with the highest capacity that I've seen at 128GB.
