There are newer versions of this one (mini 0803), the mini 0805 is already available, the 0806 is coming soon. There are some trouble report about overheating mini 0803s, the new versions supposed to fix that + newer sensor, chip, maybe some new functions, etc... just google it or check amazon/ebay...
thanks for the suggestion. I already have a BlackVue. I was just suggesting a smaller, more discrete and affordable option. I'll definitely take a look at newer units if the need arises.

I am checking out the blackvue 650, too - mainly because of the discreet form, the WiFi and the parking mode. One question, when in parking mode (motion sensor), does it record some time (5-10 seconds) before the triggering event? I know the Blackvue 750 and the Panorama x2 do that but those are bulky with display etc..

Yes, it starts prior to the triggering event, so you see the whole thing.

Keep in mind that if it does that it will be draining the car's battery all night.

With the BlackVue you can get the power magic pro. It allows you to set a voltage and time threshold. If/when you reach that threshold the unit shuts off to protect the battery.

I wanted something discreet and good quality with GPS, wifi, etc.. BlackVue seemed like had a ton of good reviews. I purchased a BlackVue 500GW-HD from ebay for $199 (within my buget) and also springed $40 for the power Magic pro.

I just purchased the BlackVue dr-600
It shoots in full 1080p And has built in wifi and gps
I went with this one because the rear of my car will be tinted and it will be garaged. I wanted this for additional piece of mind. But I do have a delema because I have a radar detector as well. So I'll have to swap them both for the charger.
I ordered off thedashcamstore.com For $279

Any one else running this model?

It still draws very little and your car draws from the battery all the time anyway.

OK here's a crazy question. I have a convertible so mounting a 2nd camera on the rear window isn't going to happen. What if that 2nd camera was mounted above the rear view mirror pointing backwards? Then it could video the cars interior, I'm thinking for security if it's parked with the top down.

Thoughts?

Probably better to stick to 1 channel.

My wife got me one for Christmas:

"The Original Dash Cam 2"

http://www.sears.com/the-original-d...a=05738443000P&kpid=05738443000&mktRedirect=y

"Two lenses, one 140° wide angle, one telescopic, rotate a full 180°
Displays both lenses on a single split screen
Records HD video continuously onto a microSD card
Panic button in conjunction with G-sensor automatically stores important video so that it will not be deleted
Supports an optional GPS tracking accessory to log your exact speed and location, and playing back over a Google Maps overlay
Comes complete with: TODC 2, Mount w/ Dash Plate, 12v Car Charger, AV out Cables, MicroSD Card w/ Adapter"

Pros: emergency mode locks the video, G-sensor senses impact and locks video, lenses can be rotated to rear, but also to sides, cuts off if power from car battery gets low, large suction cup, locking mount, split screen/2 channels, people think you're a cop (yes, I've been asked)

Cons: Battery life (leave mine plugged in), large suction cup, people think you're a cop

Any dash cams with a standard 1/4" screw'type mointing bracket? I want to mount it from the passenger headrest so I can just run power from the center console.

Check eBay for a rear view mirror camera mount. You could modify that to fit on the passenger headrest.
