What compound do you prefer your shift knob to be made of? Aluminum or resin?

Do you prefer the aluminum to be light or do you prefer some weight to it?

If you have a preference, post! Include your favorite knob as well if you like.

Tell us why this is your preference.

Thanks!

I chose aluminum with weight, because I really like the size and the feel of the added weight. But ultimate choice for me would be weighted leather. Mine gets too hot in the summer amd too cold in the winter.

I actually prefer stainless, no extra weight needed.
I've had Lathewerks knobs on my last 3 cars.

My Raceseng Ashiko is stainless steel and it's very heavy 735 grams almost two pounds and it throws solidly into gear. The best thing about the knob is how low it sits and that it can be gripped from above or from the side (I prefer to grip from the side). Would buy again

Metal can be problematic in the Texas heat, even though I like the added weight.

I wonder how much added stress a weighted shift knob causes on the shifter forks and whether it added to the 3-4 fork issues at all. Adding nearly 2 lbs to the stick plus the billet lockout cannot be good for the forks

Hahahaha, "problematic" Its more like burn the palm of your hand! The Terminator got that same shift knob, and for the same reason. Even the factory black one would scald you. Its just as bad in Florida, but the 16 has an automatic, and haven't found anything good for it yet.

I prefer stainless as well. The weight makes shifting almost effortless. I doubt the weight will do any long term damage to the transmission.

How easy is it to replace? Is it pressed on the stick and requires the use of force and/or special tools, or is it simply screwed on?

I wish someone made a good weighted leather knob.

The shifter is threded. The existing knob will unscrew with a little effort.
