Is anyone running an aftermarket/lighter/smaller crank pulley? I remember when I moved to a March pulley on my 4.6 32v there was minimal gains from weight/size change, but the engine definitely revved easier. Not sure how the new 5.0 responds to them though.

The main purpose of replacing the crank pulley is to improve crank vibration damping for high RPM use. Not necessarily a performance gain in and of itself.

I'm aware of that, but it doesn't really answer my question as to if they are healthy for the 5.0 or not.

I wouldnt call it unhealthy at all. Less rotational weight is always a good thing. There's even a lightweight water pump pulley available. I too just wouldn't expect to feel much benefit from it.

I just remember seeing some 4.6 people blame them for early oil pump gear failure. I never had issue with mine, but I also keep stock rev limiter.
