I'm getting ready to order. Anybody know which will get you a better deal - X-Plan or Costco?

Is it possible to combine the deals?

You cannot combine the deals.

When I was doing my research I spoke with a dealer that said the difference between the two is negligible, roughly $100, so a wash. With X-Plan however, dealers are limited to $100 "Document" fee, but with Costco I believe they could charge more than that.

That's not necessarily true. X-Plan price for my car was $39,800, but the Costco price was $38,600, so about $1200 less than X-Plan. Both of these prices were before incentives. These were quoted in March 2015 for a retail order (not from dealer stock). YMMV.

X-plan is a set price on the invoice of each vehicle. It is a violation of Ford's rule to use X-plan and alter the price at all.

Costco pricing is a specific price, as well, based on a dollar amount above or below the factory invoice total. Costco pricing varies around the country and even within geographical areas as dealers on the program simply have to price within $300 of the nearest Costco dealer.

The reason you can't combine these two offers is that neither is a discount (like a rebate). Each is a set price.

I did this exact search a few months ago and came up with Costco being a slightly better deal but you were limited to what the dealer had or was willing to work with. You couldn't special order a car on the Costco pricing.

I've decided to spend a little more to go with xplan since there is nothing hidden. They must abide by specified rules.

I'm using the Costco pricing for my GT and my salesman priced it at "$400 under invoice".

My Costco deal was $450 under invoice. It was very easy and fast. I had my pick of all the So Cal dealers. They traded one of theirs for the one that I chose. Had it the next day.

Interesting I just ran the Costco deal, pretty good, I'll have to compare it to my USAA calculator. Thanks guys I never thought about Costco.

Can you order under these plans or is it only for what's on the lot?

Try truecar.com I found a dealer that was cheaper than xplan on there when I was shopping around

Yes, you can order with Costco pricing. That is what I did, but it depends entirely on the dealer. As you know, they would much rather sell you a car from the lot.
