I dont agree with offering 500 below invoice, i simply said hey my name is this, i want a car with this, now give me your best price. once they respond, i send a follow up email and ask is this your best and final? 9/10 i got a follow up email saying no heres another offer, let them set the price, and make sure they snap a photo of the offer. Once you have that shop it around and ask another dealer hey can you beat this, just keep working it I started shopping 8/2 and finished my search 8/4 literally took 2 days of email contact.

Also, if your willing to travel, Koons dealerships in the Virginia or Maryland area have been known to have unbeatable prices. PM StangMan04 or he may chime in at some point in this thread ans ask him for his salesmans info.

I agree with this too. This is exactly what I did but it took me a little longer. I think what we were trying to imply was $500 below invoice is a good place to start.

This is what my Koons salesman said about my deal i showed him i got from Hennessy Ford

"It looks like the dealership is offering you at cost (invoice - holdback) for the vehicle"

"I dont know why you are still shopping, you have an opportunity to buy a vehicle at dealer cost"

i understand, my thing is you never know if the dealer you're talking to is the dealer who would have offered $600 below invoice.

It just comes down to the dealership and the location. If you have a dealership that moves cars in droves, gets lots of incentives from Ford or just want to get rid of their inventory, then you can get awesome deals. In my area, sports cars are just a niche car and there usually isn't much inventory.

Understood, I was all set on a dealer that offered $700 below invoice, but luckily I ended up chatting with a local forum member who was able to get me a better deal. My advice is take your time and do your homework. The OP has 2 months, start dealing when you can.

this may be true, but factor in travel and gas cost there and back, etc. id rather just buy locally within 75 miles

Many high volume dealerships will already START below true car or x-plan. If you truly want to do the least amount of work and drive to the corner Ford dealership 2mi away then yes x-plan or true car is a decent way to eliminate all grunt work but you can potentially leave over $1000 dollars on the table.

I bought my car for 1k under invoice. Between true car and x-plan, the difference is negligible

I had X-plan pin (from work, free), but everyone here beats it easily. So now, it's who can get what I want, for the best price.
