Hey everyone. First post here but have been on for a long time. I’m not new to mustangs but am new to the Costco ordering program. Trying to order a 19 GT with 401a, magnetic ride, B&O, active exhaust, and 10 speed auto. MSRP is 51,725, their offer is 47,771 and after taxes and fees the final price is 52,515 not including any rebates. My question is, does this sound accurate? Just seemed a little high to me personally and I would like to hear another opinion/perspective. Thanks everybody!

Have you priced with X-Plan yet?

I haven't built and purchased a car through Costco's ordering program; however, I have priced a couple of late model mustang's through Ford's X Plan. I have had better fortune, as far as a final, out-the-door and on-the-road price is concerned, by speaking/negotiating with multiple high-volume dealerships and having the dealerships "compete" for my business for a better final price, than I have with obtaining an equal price with the X-Plan. There is a $2,000 Ford Rebate on 2019 Mustang GT at present. Your quoted price, in my opinion, doesn't sound like a "bad deal." I am not sure if one has to use Ford Credit financing to qualify for and utilize the current $2,000 rebates on 2019 Mustang GT's. Best of luck to you..."Your Mileage May Vary"...

I have access to both Costco and xplan. xplan is $400 over invoice where (for me) Costco was $400 under. I used those prices to get my final price. On a little over 52k car I got about 4k off before rebates. You should be shooting for about 8% off before rebates. I can say that where I live there are about 8 dealers within 35min of me so it was pretty easy to get to the price I had gotten. In the end, I had 5 dealers within $100 of what I paid. None would go lower than that. You might get a slightly better deal on one on their lot though.

Are you saying to shoot for 8% off of MSRP or the invoice price? Also I asked this dealer about the x-plan and he said it’s not cheaper. I also asked another dealership about x plan price for the same build and it was in fact a higher price, although not drastic.

Off of MSRP. Based on the pricing you mentioned, you are at the 8% off MSRP and that is lower than xplan. If you list all the options I can tell you what the xplan price would be if you want to know for sure.

I have access to X plan and I have always been able to negotiate a better deal than X-plan on cars that were on the lot.

I just got an 19 with 401a, 10 speed and B&O (no Manga or Active Exhaust). MSRP was $47k and after Costco and rebates we were at $43k. No taxes but made them included fees, etc. at that price. I don't think you're far off. It was a custom order (only 4 months!).

Update: I think I’m going to go with x-plan from the dealer I’ve dealt with before. With the Costco plan I was quoted 48,7xx but they tacked on almost 800 bucks in dealer fees where the x-plan limits the fees to 100. I don’t have the sheet in front of me at the moment, but the final price (including fees) is lower with the x-plan. I’m not sure why or how but that’s what I’m seeing on paper. For reference the build is:
2019 Premium GT
401 A with 10 speed auto
PP1 with magnetic ride
Active exhaust
B&O sound system
Magnetic metallic w/showstopper red interior (non-recaro)

Nice options. I think the contrast of the Magnetic and showstopper interior will look great.

If the MSRP is $51,725 like you noted above, You should be trying for about 48,000 before rebates, fees etc. So with rebates, you should be around $46,000 (I used Denver's zip) which is a great deal on an ordered car. I think you mentioned you were are at ~48,700. Up to you if you want to try to get more off elsewhere. I would say there is at least $500 and maybe a bit more. If you get no lower it is still very good and you should feel good about it.

I wont try the Costco thing again. I set up an appt with my local Toyota dealer using the Costco plan. I got there at my recommended appt time, waited about 15 min for them to introduce me to my Costco rep, and after a stupid discussion (10 min) about my wants and needs, (was very greasy) which I had expressed right off the bat, (it was simple, wanted a Tacoma Limited, paying cash) rep walked off for about 15 min and then came back. 500 off. Really, 500 off, truck was 41500, only 500 off? Walked right out.

$500?!? Nope! Obviously he didn't want to sell it that day.

My Costco experience was completely different. I first asked them for my discount through my work (large, ahem, well known international company) and the dealer came back with a nice discount. I then asked for my Costco discount and they were taken aback and came back with an even lower number. At no time did they ask for any proof or verification from Costco.

Be aware that the Costco discounts may not apply to all vehicles. There's a gentleman on the forum who tried to use it on a Bullitt and they kindly laughed in his face. (I exaggerate) So I assume that for certain high value, high demand vehicles there are exceptions to the Costco program. Given the high demand for Tacoma pickups (and their high revenue for the dealers) they may have an exception. Not the dealer's fault and not a reason not to try the Costco path.

I agree, I think it was because Toyota thinks their trucks are gold and dont drop the price much. When I bought my last Tacoma, I did my homework and found out online what I thought would be a good price. When I went into the dealer to look at them, I told the salesman I was considering using the Costco deal at another dealer and he immediately told me he could easily beat the Costco price, which he did. Easily. But I think its worth it to try on a Mustang. Just not on a Tacoma. But I bet if you went into any Ford dealer and told them you were considering using the Costco deal at another dealer, I bet they'd beat it on the spot.
