Have you changed it using forscan?I have a A10 18 with a Gen 5 whipple and since I swapped my stock 3.55’s for 3.31’s I have issues .
Car felt like it’s breakijg up above 6000 rpm .
I thought my clutches were the slipping so I had them swapped for the McLeod steels .
It’s still doing it .
I then thought may be it was the plugs .
Initially after swapping them it drove well for a while but the “misfire “ returned (no codes )
I now have the U0422 code .
Any help will be much appreciated!
Pretty sure they diid not use the forescan after the swap as they said my tuner had to make the change since it was not a stock tune .Have you changed it using forscan?
Forscan changes the BCM. What does the code say?Pretty sure they diid not use the forescan after the swap as they said my tuner had to make the change since it was not a stock tune .
I told the tuner and he said he made changes to the tune .
The U0422 does not show up as a CEL but it shows up when I use the Ngaugev/whipple tool to check codes .
I first noticed it after the clutches were swapped .
I also repacked the valve body and they said ilI had to return to the stock tune for them to program that .
I have tried using the whipple tool to change the value back to the original 3.55 but the code is full there .
Can the forescan make the change with an aftermarket tune on the PCM?
Rob shoemakerI don't think FORScan will solve your issue.
One thing to check, apparently there's a sensor on the diff or halfshafts somewhere and it's exceedingly easy to break the tone ring. That causes the issue you're having even when the tune is correct.
Who is your tuner?
I made changes to the BCM using the whipple tool .Forscan changes the BCM. What does the code say?
I thought the 18 would adjust the bcm automatically from what I've read on one of the treads, but it doesn't hurt to try.
I just went through this myself a few weeks ago. When I looked at the line of code for the gear change on forscan the last box said 55xx. Once I changed it back to the correct value that code went away. I went from 3.15 to 4.10.I made changes to the BCM using the whipple tool .
But when I change back to the original 3.31 still have the code .
I am hoping tuner can help (he said he already made changes to the tune but may be not )![]()
You're missing an important piece of shorthand when looking at As-Built mods.I just went through this myself a few weeks ago. When I looked at the line of code for the gear change on forscan the last box said 55xx. Once I changed it back to the correct value that code went away. I went from 3.15 to 4.10.
First I put the stock tune back on the car (no need to swap out parts again). When I checked the line on forscan after going to back to stock the last box said "55xx" but it's supposed to numerically calculate.
[snip]
Also a tuner only makes changes to the pcm. I'm not sure why the flare tool wouldn't work (I never used one), I'm thinking it can't change the specific line it needs to if it has a populated field with "xx" in it.
Thanks for the further clarification lol. I was trying to make it as simple as possible, but that info is indeed crucialYou're missing an important piece of shorthand when looking at As-Built mods.
As-Built is set in hexadecimal, which is the numbers 0-9 plus A B C D E F. You will note there is no "X" in hexadecimal.
When you see somebody say set line "726-01-01 to xxxx ABCD xxxx" - the x's mean to leave the existing values alone.
Don't try to actually enter X's in FORScan. If you have, you need to download your original as-built from the motorcraft website and set everything back to stock so you have a known-good starting point.
Thanks so much .I just went through this myself a few weeks ago. When I looked at the line of code for the gear change on forscan the last box said 55xx. Once I changed it back to the correct value that code went away. I went from 3.15 to 4.10.

Second, I looked up the line of codes for my car from a Ford site and changed the gear line codes back to the exact same numbers when I first bought the car and the U code went away.
Third, after I flashed bcm with the original line of code, I went back in again and put in the correct value for my current gear ratio and flashed the bcm again and the code went away. You're going to get a P061a code (or something like that). If you get that code you do a relearn procedure that forscan can do and that code will go away.
Hopefully, you should be good to go after that. I have a 16 auto GT. The only thing you would have to pay for is the ODB tool which is like $80. Forscan is free to download and use, and get a free license for.
Oh I also had a code that said my Vin was not matching the bcm of the car or something like that and that also went away when I did those procedures.

Post up a screen shot of what your BCM as-built looks like. That will help. Thanks so much .
I will give it a go !
I think the wifi one has that issuePost up a screen shot of what your BCM as-built looks like. That will help.
Also with regard to the PCM relearn, I am left wondering but unable to confirm if certain ODB adapters fail while doing that. I used an ODBLink MX Bluetooth and had no issues when changing tire size on a few vehicles.
