I drive a 3500 on the daily and cruise around going 60 normally for few reasons..

Can easily tell you its hard to notice the speed. I was just easing my way home and looked down at the speed in the mustang and was going 85. Felt the same as 60 in the truck.

Its an amazing machine

i had very similar experience 3 months back..i was in MASS and was going towards attleboro..It was residential area and speed limit was 30 ... i had no idea when i did 65 or something... and suddenly a black impala was behind me ,... it was actually a cop car and boom there goes blue light....

He came took my Docs and said.. ur history is clean ... have fun slow down... nice car .. just be careful...

On Saturday headed to the auto-x I was on the interstate, left lane passing aon old F-150, cruise set at 73mph in a 65.

I see HP in the median and as I pass (while lowering the CC speed) I see him backing up... "damn it, its me."

Of course the F-150 is right next to me so I blip it to get in front of him so I can pull over. Cops lights come on right as he's coming up on me and he shoots by me and gets the guy in front of me!!!!

And I didn't have a front plate. Lucky day.

I did remind my wife about the speeding regulations in our state. Thing is, she did not intend to go that fast. The car just accelerates so easily that you don't realize how fast you are going until you look at the gauge. Plus traffic around you is flying too........some slower, most just as fast, some faster.

We had one Lexus pass us like we were sitting on rails at one point. I looked down to see I was doing 85 at that moment.
I hear that. I just got my s550 gt, and one of the main things I've noticed, is how slow it feels like I'm going. It's entirely too easy to go 45-50 when you're supposed to be going 30, and easy to be doing 75 when it's 60.

Of course, I last drove a ford fiesta, so the difference is quite large.

Just noticed you guys mentioning blue lights...here the cops have to have red, as in 'stop'. There have been cases of people being pulled over by rent a cops, or at least their cars, w/ blue lights and being robbed.... Just wondered how universal, if at all, this is...

Oh, and did you record your mpgs on your trip?

These stories are always interesting. I'm convinced it's how you treat the cop though and not the car you drive.

Two years ago we were coming back from my fiancee's aunt's house (2 hour drive) and she was sleeping while I was driving down the highway. I see a state trooper coming the other way and I slow down a bit. Next thing the woman is waking up from me cursing because i see the cop do a u-turn thorugh the grass diving the highway. I slowed down. Long story short I was doing 88 in a 55 (didn't realize that section had dropped down).

Was polite and honest to the guy and he let me off with a license plate ticket for $35 which I was thrilled with. He said I slowed down and if I hadn't we'd be having this conversation the next state over, then laughed at me and said to try to keep the speed down as those S4s are fast and you get up to high to quick.

Anyway always sucks seeing those lights but I've gotten pulled over 4x in the last 12 years and haven't received a real ticket by not being a dick about it.

great story. reminds me of my buddy's encouter w/ a cop a long time ago in his dodge viper. damn i think that was 2001 or so. he had just picked it up (used) and wanted to see what she's got, so the very next morning, he went for a ride at dawn, so the parkway would be empty.

well, he ended up blowing right past a cop at 140mph or so. needless to say, he didn't bother driving much further and pulled over to wait for the cop.

after a short while, the cop finally gets to his car on the shoulder and asks "may i see your pilot's license please". they both had a laugh, talked about the car a little bit, he mentioned that he just got it, and wanted to see how fast it was, and that he still had another gear.

then the cop said to be careful, and let him off with a warning. awesome..

Iwilliams , you know GA has super speeder tickets and you were one lucky sob . That was 24 mph over. Your insurance would have taken a big hit @ renewal if they caught it. I very seldom see people going that fast on the interstates ....cause they are adults. I'm surprised you got off cause Ga is having the worst year in traffic fatalities. It's no secret they are cracking down on speeders. That fine could have been as high as $500 + super speeder $200 = $700 big ones. I might even call this story a little embellished.
Good story, but absolutely zero need to go 95mph.
You always get the "OMG you were going so fast" libs... I bought a sports car to drive fast.

You may have a sports car, but there is a time and place to reach those speeds. The freeway is not it.
