I've owned the stang for 9 months. Yesterday in bumper to bumper traffic a white F-150 swerved over very aggressively to avoid stopping and merge over to my lane. I tend to leave a small gap in front of me due to driving a manual. This guy however was right next to me. I'm assuming he didn't see me but it was so abrupt, I hit the brakes and swerved over enough to stay in my lane. The lady to my right thought I was going to hit her. We both honked after.

Either way, this is the second time I've been almost side swiped. Yesterday's situation was a mistake by that driver. However, the last one was a road rage incident with an F150 as well. This guy intentionally tried to run me off the road and pinned me against a concrete barrier to a full stop. I wasn't trying to be a jerk. I was just trying to merge over and grab the next freeway on ramp and he kept blocking me for some reason. I decided to drop a gear and I got in front of the car ahead. I guess he thought to use his lifted F150 to show me. Whatever, hopefully there's no next time but I'm not sticking around to have a slow lifted F150 pin me.

Anyway, you guys have close calls often? Maybe our cars low profile contribute to this?

My son, who has had a car now for about one year, made the observation that usually the pickup truck drivers are the most aggressive and rudest drivers on the road. I'm sure there are plenty here that aren't bad though! He also said sports car drivers tend to be the best drivers.

We thought about it for a bit and I thought it might come down to the age of the drivers.

I was driving through my brother's neighborhood the other day and it's an older development so there are a lot of big trees and a bunch of goofy little intersections with 3+ yield signs instead of roundabouts. Was coming up to the trickiest one from the direction that didn't have a yield sign but I still had my head on a swivel.

See a woman approaching from the direction perpendicular to me and she's not slowing down but thought "she's definitely gonna see me + she has to see her yield sign" for a half second until I saw her eyes and she clearly wasn't paying attention. Slammed on my brakes as she blew through the intersection to make a left, she would have crushed me if I hadn't. Closest call I've had in a while.

not all of them, but many of those lifted truck drivers just bought the truck to close the gap of insecurities and ego. So when they are driving they want to feel like a "real man!"

they see a sports car and feel offended.. lol

i live in GA and thats is very common here. I feel bad for those guys, i dont get mad anymore.

Eh, most of the time it's Dodge and Chevy trucks that get up on me. Most of the f-150s and Ford trucks here gives me some respect.

I live in the San Francisco Bay area so close calls are a daily norm it feels like. However couple weeks back on a very busy street I had a guy from the opposite lane try and make a left turn as soon as I was enterting the cross walk. It's the only time I've ever mashed my brake pedal. And Jesus do these cars have some good brakes.

Sadly i was instantly filled with rage because the guy also hit his brakes but then just sat there in front of me like a deer in the headlights while all the traffic around us came to a screetching halt.

This is why Zipcar shouldn't exist

I haven't had any close calls in the Mustang *knocks on wood*, but I have had a few in other vehicles.

The most memorable one that happened in the last couple years was an impatient driver trying to pass me on an extended single-lane ramp leading to the interstate. I was cruising in my F-150 with a 2" lift a couple car lengths behind another vehicle going 40 in a 40.

The impatient driver kept laying on his horn, gesturing out the window, and flashing his high beams. I just assumed he couldn't see the small car in front of me and was blaming me for him having to obey the speed limit.

Well, he got fed up with driving behind me and tried to pass me on the left shoulder during a gap in the concrete median right before the median returned. I maintained my speed and distance from the car in front of me. One second he was next to me, the next his engine bay was partially impaled by the median that returned.

Yeah and both instances on I-10.

On a good note with reference to trucks....Raptors and mustangs I think have this mutual respect for each other. I feel the brotherhood with Raptors for some reason. When we run into each other, it's like, "let's cruise together."

Not in my mustang, but in one of my old CJ-7's, I had an elderly gentleman, driving a very large u-haul WITH a trailer attached (holding a very nice bel air) decided to merge into the passing lane on I-4 while I was in mid-pass. Slammed on the brakes but still had to swerve into the median to avoid being taken out by the trailer. Ever been 80+ in a Jeep when hitting a slopped grassy surface? Holy crap that was the most intense near miss I've ever had.

I let her win that one....

She still does not know I existed... I guess her convo was that good. Honesty though, I did not even have time to honk... she pulled a crazy three lane change on a 4 lane hwy.

After she made her move, I saw her on the phone... I let it go.

It was such a nice afternoon.... sun was low, top was down...

F150 drivers have always been the worst in Phoenix. They're either riding my ass or cutting me off.

The worst incident I had involved a late model IS F. Was on Warner headed West to the 10 by the Home Depot there. People always pull out of there almost getting t-boned by east bound traffic, but usually stop in the median. This guy cuts me off as to where I would rear end him and I have a Colorado in the lane to my right. To avoid hitting him, I go over to the median and get around him. He then speeds up, cuts me off and slams on his brakes. I go over to the right lane and keep going. We get to the Priest intersection and I get into the left turn lane. He pulls into the bank parking lot and cuts through there to stop in the median facing southbound. He waits till I turn and right as I'm pulling into my apartment complex, he almost side swipes me and blocks the entrance to my complex with his car. He gets out and starts walking at my car with a knife. Was the only time I've ever had to pull my CCW. He ran back to his car and speeds off. I call Tempe PD and they take a police report, but nothing every happened with it despite me giving a full vehicle description and a license plate number.

I second that. It seems like they are the most impatient ones on the road. If you are doing 80-85 in the left lane, it is almost always a pickup trying to push you out. They seem to be more aggressive when it rains or snows because, you know, pickups have all the stopping power in the world in slippery conditions
