Hello All,
Quick question has Ford changed the coolant color for the 2015 Mustang gt premium cars? If so is mandatory that you do and is that job for the dealer to do since you are changing all of the fluid that's in the engine that doesn't get drain when you diy? Blake

I believe Ford has moved from orange to highlighter yellow for the coolant for all years S550. No need to change it early but if you’re due for a coolant flush, the yellow would be what you refill with.

They updated from orange to yellow, however they are safe to mix. So even if you don't get all of the orange out of your system, the yellow mixing with it won't cause an issue.

I bought my mustang 5his year and I change all the fluids from the radiator to rearend unless it states being done on carfax. The Prestone is now good for an 350,000 miles

I had my '19 switched over to the yellow coolant since it seemed to be better for the long run. My dealer could not do the switch. They no longer drain and fill. They only reprocess your existing coolant and put it back in.

Yup. Years ago.

Everyone can make their own decision on using this technology.

I occasionally reprocess whiskey. Anyone want some?

I took a few moments to study the warranties for both Peak and Prestone coolants. While both companies warranty their products in some instances for 10-15+ years and hundreds of thousands of miles, their warranties have some caveats.

In the case of Prestone, this is what's covered: "For this Limited Warranty, the vehicle cooling system parts and components (“Cooling System”) are defined as the radiator, heater core, water pump, hoses and thermostat only. All other engine parts and components are excluded."

https://www.prestone.com/guarantee-and-claims/

Looking at Peak's warranty, they state "cooling system", without listing specific parts.

https://www.owi.com/binaries/conten...-afc-general-limited-warranty-period-2023.pdf

Both companies, I imagine every company, supports their warranty, "...as long as the vehicle is maintained, per the manufacturers instructions.", or something to that effect.

Reviewing my Owner's Manual, the initial change is 200,000 miles or ten years of operation, whichever milestone is reached first. Afterwards, it's every 100,000 miles or five years. I agree with changing when previous maintenance cannot be confirmed. Beyond that, if someone wants to change more frequently, that's cool to. The minimum requirement is the owners manual.

I'm not doubting the capabilities of Peak, Prestone or Motorcraft. Great products. For any item you like to use, study the Ford requirement, maintenance schedule and item warranty.

Technically, reprocessing of IRISH Whiskey or scotch is for European cars. Reprocessing BOURBON is for American cars!!

Reprocess old coolant? Did new technology pass me by?
I didn't understand it, but it sounded like "kidney dialysis" for your cooling system. My uneducated guess is that they pH neutralize your coolant, filter it, maybe add new additives, then put it back in your car. Again, I do not really know. I just know that I couldn't change from orange to yellow coolant through the dealer's process. I took the new yellow coolant to another local shop that did the old-fashioned flush-and-fill method we all know and love!

Just went through this after installing my ESS kit and topping coolant off. They went from like a pink to orange to yellow to greenish yellow. All of them can be mixed with each other. Just buy it from ford. It’s about the same price as other brands anyways. Then you know you always have the right one
