Yall act like you’ve never heard of “inflation”.

Comparing a 2025 price to a 2018 price (or any other car beyond a couple years) is apples and oranges. If that’s your justification for claiming something is “too expensive”, why stop there? Hell in 1965 you could buy a mustang for less than $3000. By some people’s metrics that means we are stupid for buying a $35K car 🤣

Here’s a tidbit of information for those who are economics-illiterate. The value of a US dollar is garbage. Inflation is real. Technology in new cars costs more with each new generation or advancement. Meeting safety regulations isn’t cheap.

This has been my TED talk 🤣

Sticker on my 2019 GT PP1 with pretty much all the goodies was $52,000. Adding 25% for Bidenflation gets you to $63,000. Add $5,000 for the convertible. Take off $2,000 for MagneRide (my $1700 cost + inflation) that this car doesn't have. Totals up to about $66,000. Hard to see another $5000 (7%) in value from the fairly limited technology adds between then and now.

I was told it's the amount of time it takes to earn the money to purchase an item.
Yes inflation is a thing but if the average wage has not kept up with the increase in price of an item it becomes unaffordable. Probably over simplistic but that's why most think it is to expensive.

In 1965 the median household income was approximately $7k. A $3k Mustang was a bit under half the average family's income.
In 2024 the median income was a bit over $83k. The Mustang in question has a sticker of $70k. That's like 84% of the same average family income.
Yes, everyone knows inflation exists and it sucks. But it still seems like the Mustang has priced itself away from its market.

Now, in Ford's defense, a stripped EB stickers at under $35,000, so the ratio remains pretty close. It's the really nice ones that are getting pricey.

In '65 the most expensive standard mustang was the convertible at just below $2700. The GT350 was around $4400.
Still feels like they are outrunning their market now days.

On the window sticker it states red brake calipers.
The photo below the window sticker shows the car with red Brembos all the way around.
Yes, i meant that its a paid option now, they charge you 750$ for it now.

I suspect the mustang is priced so high to make up for selling the mach e for a loss. I just went on ford's build and price site and optioned a 25 dark horse up to 97k.

That comment, the "can't afford it" one always pisses me off. Even if it's not directed at me.
How arrogant do you have to be to judge someone based on what they consider is worth spending money on? I've seen it a couple of times lately and it's simply uncalled for.
Someone said in another thread that if you buy regular fuel instead of premium then you shouldn't own a mustang. Really, who the F$%& cares if I don't need to squeeze the last 4 HP out of a car that can't be used to its potential in daily driving anyway.
I could "afford" that car and a couple more if I chose to but I simply don't feel the need to. My '18 EB convertible makes me very happy and if someone doesn't like that, too damn bad!!!

Sorry, rant over for now...
During COVID many people were paying like 20-30% over MSRP. 100k for a 2020 Yamaha 242 limited SE. When people complained, they said we couldn't afford it. It's a humble brag. Prices DUMPED. Last year I bought a used 2020 yamaha 242 limited SE for $40k with a new trailer.

COVID was a special time. My daughter was hit broadside and it totaled her car. It took 4 months to find a replacement. Any car that wasn't trash sold in hours at outrageously userous prices.
I could have sold my '18 convertible for nearly twice what I paid for it used 18 months before.
You might see it as a humble brag. I see it as an unsubtle insult. Or an attempt to diflect away from their questionable decisions. Judgemental and rude either way.

Anymore? Did you ever? The Bembros on my 2019 PP1 are black with white logos, same as the current PP.
I thought the PP calipers were always red. Maybe i was thinking of the Bullits.

From google Ai: "This red color is a factory original equipment feature for the 2018-2019 Bullitt models and the Performance Pack GTs from 2015-2023, according to Ford."
