I have the Borla S-Type cat back exhaust on my convertible. I just received the correct pipes between the mufflers and the x-pipe from Borla. The new builds they are making fit the convertible no problem. The replacement parts went on perfectly and now they clear the brace. I'm a happy customer. Thank you again to Jay at Hypermotive for all his efforts and support. Awesome dealing with you man!

I don't have the same issue as you MagneticMan. My pipes are not hitting against anything. Mind you... Mine are not the Ford Racing ones. I have the Borla S-Type catback with x-pipe.

Mine looked like that real close maybe a bit closer to the sway bar with the brace on, thinking the Ford service guy was just over cautious, but I'll get a second opinion.

Did you have a chance to compare the old style vs the new style middle pipe sections side by side? Mine had the exact bend angles, only difference I could tell was they relocated a hanger bracket on the modified pipe sections

I just want to thank everyone for this thread. Was about to pull the trigger on a Magnaflow cat-back street system for my vert when I found this thread. Very good info here and I've definitely put my exhaust plans on hold.

I will ask if anyone is yet aware of when the convertible-appropriate version from Magnaflow will be available?

Called Magnaflow on 14th. They told me that the retooled cat-back competition exhaust for the fast back or convertible will be out on the 15th of May. Website does not reflect yet.

I spoke with a rep from MBRP today myself asking the same question. He stated that they were about to release their systems for the convertible in a few weeks. I like the "name brand" systems but can't justify the expense for those over the MBRP exhausts.

This thread has also saved me a costly mistake by ordering a coupe kit not knowing there was a difference.

If you have a V6 'vert, here's some info

On the following thread I just posted in thee V6 section, I outline how I needed to modify the installation of Magnaflow mufflers & tips (not an axle back kit) to delete the drone that 'only I got' from adding MF mufflers on my convertible.

I finally got to order my Magnaflow Street series catback for my GT vert today from Justin at Xhaust Shop 586-227-9515. I usually buy my stuff from Beefcake but I had talked to Justin from Xhaust Shop back in February about exhaust for the convertibles and he had been giving me updates about every two weeks (I kinda felt obligated). He has great customer service, and he can sell you either of the new Magnaflow catbacks for $895 shipped. I'll get pics as soon as I get to install it.

Hi, a quick update, I'll post pictures tomorrow.

Talked about my mechanic about bringing in the GT and seeing if he could fiddle with braces and the Ford Racing cat back exhaust. I have the exhaust on but had fitting issues for the subassembly or subframe brace, whatever they call it.

He refused only because he highly recommended I go to a custom exhaust place about a mile away from his shop instead.

Based on this referral I dropped off the braces, the stock exhaust and asked the custom exhaust guy to see in this order:

a) if he could get the stock braces on with the Ford Racing (Borla) exhaust which are now the modified ones replaced by Borla last month.

b) if that didn't work, then just replace the middle pipe sections from cut out pieces of the stock exhaust.

Well, he sort of surprised, he did a plan c) which was
to modify the stock braces instead! Basicaly he put a little bend in them, had to had some metal to increase the length a bit, then painted them.

The little bend he did was slight, the stock braces look stock, a quick glance and you couldn't tell it was modified.

Charged $200, dropped the 'stang at 6:30 a.m. and picked it up at 11:00 a.m.

Still irked it didn't fit out of the box and I have two independent confirmations the modified pipes from Borla still had fitment issues, but the fit is a lot closer than with the original pre mid-March 2015 pipes.

It was a big relief to finally have the braces back on and the Borla exhaust does sound bad ass.

There will be another convertible cat back option soon. I am dropping my convertible off at ARH when it is (hopefully) delivered next week. According to Steve they will use 2.5" pipe similar to the Ford Racong setup. Full report to come when the install is complete.

I ended up sticking with my Roush Axle-Back and had the local muffler shop put on an X-Pipe. The sound is wicked. Loud as hell when you get on it, almost silent at cruising speed.
