The following pics are for a forum member to aid in their decisions. I hope this helps. I've got the car on 4 jack stands, I'm short, by myself and I was standing on a jack stand, so I couldn't hold the tape measure and take a pic at the same time, I measured 3/4" from the top back of the intake the lower point, which is about an additional 1/4" lower than where the hood rests when closed. You can see where I had to open the back of the hood to clear the intake, still needs a little more indicated by the white marks on the back of the intake from rubbing and you can see outlines on the hood where it touches the cowl of the firewall when closed.
May sound like a stupid question, but your engine is lowered correct? I am just wondering how much lower you had to make your engine for it to almost clear. Do you think there is anyway for different mount to be designed in which the engine can be lowered even further?

No I did not lower my engine, I know UPR offers mounts to lower your engine. And there's another thread where a forum member installed a BOSS intake, I don't think he lowered his either, but he did relieve his hood in the same manner as I did. I would do a search on Boss intake on this forum to find more info. I know it's not the same intake, but they're pretty close.

No, he trimmed instead of lowering.

Do you think that lowering the engine would prevent the intake from interfering with your hood? Correct me if i'm wrong, but the inside surface of the hood that is creating the interference is higher than the stock hood because you have a cowl-style hood correct? So even if the engine was lowered, it might fit under your cowl hood but it probably would not clear the stock hood without modification right?

I also forgot to say there are no stupid questions. Don't forget I have a cowl hood. The height of the hood was no problem, just the support running across the back.

It would definitely made it close to clearing, but not sure. No on the higher part, that area mimics the stock hoods lower elevation, it gets taller from there up.

That's true, I forgot that you went with the cowl. With the mounts, there's no need to trim. At least, on the stock hood.

NP. That's what I see on other post, mounts will fix the problem.

RBS550 thanks for the post. This helps but I'm not sure I'll have much room with my car being its a GT350. I really want to give this intake a try along with the long tube ARH and off road X pipe that I am waiting on. The lowering motor mounts on the flat plane 5.2 and aftermarket hood are not a option for me. I'll keep you all informed as time goes by.

No problem. Great, hope it works out for you. That's one screaming engine you have, I could only imagine what an intake like that would make it do!

Just waiting on the car to come back from the dealer, then the intake and GT500 injectors are going in. Top end build and 8k rpm will follow soon afterwards.

When're are you tearing into yours? I know it has to be coming, lol.
I was pretty gung ho about cams, but now I'm leery of power gains and possible set backs. After going to PRI the last couple of days I will do some more thinking. Ford Racing is going to have cnc'd GT350 heads & valve train, including GT350 cams, but with our firing order. And at some point I need to upgrade the rods, but I'll probably go into next year with less weight and less rolling resistance through a good alignment and 15" DRs so I can come out harder. And the other stuff later.

Yeah, 5.2 heads with the cross plane cams would be awesome, but is it really a huge improvement over the stage 3 comp cam set?
