Hey guys Im having trouble with a intermittent problem on what seems to be my clutch. I have a 22 mach 1 and ever since I got the car early on I've noticed it. I've taken it to the dealer and they can't replicate the issue. What occurs is when I go from neutral to first and I'm disengaging the clutch to move forward the car gets "stuck" and won't move. I'll give it a little gas and nothing until it finally makes an audible "thump" noise and let's out. It doesn't happen a ton but I've noticed that it usually happens when cold. Also a couple times when I've shifted in high rpm's it's made that loud thump too which I'm certain is coming from the same place. Again, it happens infrequently but I'm concerned since it's brand new. I broke the car in good and it only has 5.5k miles.

When stopped and shifting from neutral into 1st I always shift into 2nd and then to 1st. Occasionally the gears (ok, actually the synchros) do not line up and the transmission is still in neutral. Shifting into 2nd seems to help line up the synchros.

Are you aware of the "Hill Assist" feature? Do you have that enabled via the steering wheel and the dash screen? It is on by default from the factory.

When I first got my car, the car would hold sometimes, when resting on an incline at a light. I later confirmed the feature by the Owners Manual and disabled it.

Thanks. My driveway is slightly inclined however the car is parked in reverse so essentially the car is facing downhill. And I feel when the hill assist is helping but this is not it. It doesn't explain the loud clunk the car let's out before moving forward.

Hmmmmm, when it rains or is cold and slightly humid the brakes stick on mine and they thunk as the car moves forward. I've never had that happen in any instance other than after sitting. Common with the performance brakes I've had on other cars too.

It's the brake pads sticking to the rotors......Mine does it every time after I wash it or park it after driving in the rain.
100% this is what it is. Do not take it to dealer nothing wrong with the car. They all do if the rotors get wet and car is parked. Usually after rain or the car is washed.

And the large thump at high rpm is just your beefy drivetrain engaging, normal.

I suggest you quit worrying, go out there and enjoy you got plenty warranty. I got 19K awesome miles on mine.

Use rubbing alcohol to wipe the rotors down with a cheap thin microfiber. I get the spots or the rust at times after a wash. Wet the microfiber enough and wipe it off. Takes a few minutes but it works.
