With 49,000 miles on my car, I had to have the motor replaced. Now the clutch engagement point is at the top instead of close to the bottom. What can I do? Do I need a new clutch . throw out bearing , or what?

Did you speak to whoever installed the new engine? Might just be a simple clutch adjustment.

Dealer installed the new motor, so I didn't get to talk to the tech. The mustang has a hydraulic clutch, so I believe there is no adjustment.

Make sure there is no air in the system. My s550 engages high too, stock clutch and aftermarket both. Why yours didn't but does now is Interesting though.

With 49k on the car and having an engine replaced - it wouldn’t make any sense not to replace the clutch kit while the car was apart for the engine work.

Are you sure they didn’t install a new clutch kit - what’s on the original Ford work order? Did they reach out to ask anything about replacing the original clutch kit?

The S550 clutch is hydraulic - so aside from wear on the disc that would diminish the thickness of the disc (like brake pads), there isn’t much in the stock setup that would “adjust” the height of the pedal.

It’s possible they need to bleed the clutch if there is air in it.

I just did the clutch pedal fix and a clutch master cylinder on mine and got a much higher engagement as well, I'm betting the slave cylinder/master cylinder needs bled.
