Nice setup. How well does the mobius work at night or with changing light situations?

Had a POS rusted out hulk of a minivan tailgating me with maybe 15" at 30 mph. I really need a dual channel cam. That's all I was thinking about while the asshole was there.

What is it with people? I still have the temp tags on it, I think dickhead was doing it just because of that.

Way closer than what it looks like in the video.
Why were you passing on the off ramp?

I take it back. On re-viewing it, I see the lane you were in continues on and the off ramp has no deceleration lane. The other car tried to make an exit from the second lane.

More and more of the trucks you see on the highways have cameras. This is at least partially because more and more trucking companies are no longer rolling over for anyone who says they're going to sue them. It used to be they would cough up $20,000 to almost anyone just to get them to sign a settlement. No more. More and more drivers were complaining about it.

Now...here's the good news/bad news. If the camera shows the trucker messed up (and about 30% of the time, it does), the company will settle quickly for a lot more than $20,000. If the camera shows the car messed up, he will get a bill for all damages, injuries, downtime for the truck, etc. Imagine getting a half million dollar bill from the trucking company while you're still in the hospital!

And here's the really bad news. Those cameras record all the time, but only hold a few minutes of data, so when an incident occurs, it's uploaded on the communications link (which is satellite in some cases, cellular in others) almost immediately. What triggers a recording or an upload? It varies, but if a driver follows within 2 seconds at more than 20 mph for more than 2 minutes, there will be a report and upload. If a vehicle pulls in front of the truck within two seconds (which at 60 mph is 176 feet, or about 3 truck lengths), the camera starts recording. If the vehicle then slows down, a recording is triggered. If anything causes the driver to apply the brakes heavily, a recording is triggered. What happens to all these recordings? Well, some are used for training. Some are used in court, obviously. And the insurance industry is trying very hard to get access to the databases containing these recordings, because the car and license are identifiable. How would you like to get a call from your insurance agent who says, "We're doubling your insurance rate because we see you have a bad habit of driving aggressively around trucks?" Well, I don't see that happening soon, but with the ability to cross index a large database by date, vehicle, etc., I can't imagine it not being the case eventually.

By the way, a still from such a video can identify the vehicle, the date, the time, the location (to within a few feet), and the speed and direction of travel of both vehicles.

Since these cameras starting appearing in our fleet, a number of drivers have dodged a bullet, like one guy who got clipped by a passing car, who then claimed the driver clipped him. And another got hanged when the camera proved he was speeding in a school zone.

Kinda like passing in the exit lane? ;)
I was not passing on an off ramp. Re-watch the video. The lane continues. I had to swerve onto the off ramp to avoid the car.
Same here - especially with the previous sign that looks like your typical "Exit Only" lane:

I was talking about the other video.

Did you guys notice the guy who cut over at the last second has his outside passenger side mirror hanging off his car.

I am pretty sure that both of them were that way. Angry fellow motorists? Girlfriend? Boyfriend?

GT Pony, sorry for the call out. I misunderstood your comment.
