Glad you're OK, OP! Had something similar happen to me yesterday as well but there was nothing I could do (no shoulder). Land Cruiser being inattentive when a Corolla suddenly braked to a stop for no reason in front of him (?!!!) He instinctively jerked to the left where I was. Thankfully he realised it in time, missed me by about 5" or less and braked hard. Almost hit the car behind me though.

Sadly near DC/Va this is almost an everyday occurrence. Way worse with texting, if I was a cop I would have a field day. I feel your pain but at least your baby is fine. I've used my horn more times than I can count, if anything to wake them the fu#^ up.

Auto-cross for me is the occasional fun event, nothing serious.

Do not underestimate or downplay what that experience was worth in this incident. Especially if any of it was in the wet.

MPSS dry grip does drop off a bit when temperatures dip below maybe the mid 40°'s F. But they seem to recover better than certain other tires with a little driving, and its dual compound tread may have something to do with this.

Honestly, I salute your courage. Riding a motorcycle these days with all the distracted cell phone texting drivers takes a lot of balls.

My jaw dropped today when on my way to lunch I saw a biker texting while riding. It's hard enough to maintain control of a bike when you're watching out for other idiots. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to maintain control when you ARE the idiot.

Driving idiots

They come in all sizes and shapes. Had a dumbass youngish gal change lanes right under my bumper the other day. Heavy traffic, no blinker, no look...just yank the wheel and go. I slammed on the brakes and thank god for ABS, and hit the horn. Of course, her typical reaction was a middle finder out the window. She had a major POS rice burner, all banged up already.
I see it all the time. I figure it's the larger dumbing down of America and the "it's all and only about me and screw the rest of you" mentality.

I had an idiot make a left turn in front of me from the right turn lane!. I didn't even have time to hit my horn...he never even looked at me, just took off. Just a couple of inches clearance...and 87 miles on my vert!
