Whole car minus trunk: $5,250. I could have gone to another installer and paid a little less ($200 I think) but I felt better going with this company since they are part of dealer group that sells McLarens, Maseratis and Porches.

I knew with my luck if I did any less, that would be the part of the car that gets dinged.

Just picked up my car, very pleased with the installer. He does a lot of extremely high end cars including 7 figure rare exotics. I highly recommend him. If anyone needs referral in tri state area, PM me.

That is... astoundingly cheap. My installer mentioned that the GT350 front bumper is one of the most difficult ones he has ever done.

I would highly recommend getting the hood covered, though; with what he has already quoted you, I can't imagine it would be more than a couple hundred extra for a lot of peace of mind. Additionally, it would make more sense to cover the front of the rear quarter panels (AKA the "rear impact areas"), rather than the rear of the front fenders.
After 9000 miles of daily driving in some harsh areas the hood has seen no impact damage , only the areas of the car I mentioned are getting abused. The rear quarter is protected by the plastic guards and has no sign of needing protection. The front inside wheel wells and back from the front well will get beat up, that is obvious.

Whelp, I got two major chips in the hood within 500 miles of picking up the car, so I guess I was just unlucky. Keep in mind that the area immediately behind the vent is at a much steeper angle than the rest of the hood, making it more susceptible to impact damage (my most significant chip was about 6" behind the vent).

And of course the inside of the wheel wells would get beat up, I'm not sure what you were trying to say there? The outer fender surface behind the front wheel wells literally curves AWAY from the trajectory of any incoming debris, though, so I'm not sure why you think that area is in danger.

Would appreciate an education on this. If XPEL is a self healing film, does putting a hard nano coat on top of it prevent the self healing?
XPEL is not automatically self healing. It needs to be gone over with a heat gun or hair dryer to heal.

Are you an installer yourself? Just the cost of film for those areas are higher than that.

No, I am not an installer, nor do I know the the owner. I just went in and negotiated the deal :)

My original quote was $1800 for front bumper, full hood, and full fenders.

Putting a coating on film does not interfere with its ability to self heal. Most coatings are flexible, the same as a self healing top coat. The only time this could be an issue is if a coating requires *many* layers, which could render it inflexible.

Are you an installer yourself? Just the cost of film for those areas are higher than that.
The cost for XPEL Ultimate for installers depends on their supplier and their discount, but even at an average discount the cost for the film mentioned would leave very little margin on that install.
