Pretty good review, but lazy journalism comparing it against the M4. Why not compare it with an Aston while you're at it?

Gotta say, considering that's Clarkson and not Hammond that not too bad really.
He clearly gets the point that other reviewers don't!

Yep, Clarkson gets it. Not an in depth comparison but I think he compares to the M4 just to show what you get for your money. He's summed up the main attraction for me - it's clearly like nothing else...

He's pretty inconsistent... When they first mentioned the Mustang coming to the UK in Top Gear, they were all like it's gonna be crap, because Ford is trying to hard to sell it outside of the USA... now it's all love and kisses.

So he is admitting he was wrong

I must have skipped that part of the article.
Ha ha. People very often say the words 'I was wrong' they just start talking differently.

Fact is, he could of walked round it, said there is lots of cheap plastic and it handles like a bar door but he actually made the right point. Its a hell of a car for 35k

Agree. And I think he nailed it when pointed out he'd paid more for a Golf GTi. Now there's a comparison. Or rather, no comparison.

Pretty good review.

I know it's pointless.........but perhaps Mr Clarkson should check the weight of that (2 seater / exotic material) F-Type.........it's pretty much the same as the (2+2 / iron and wood) Mustang GT ;)

Good review and he also gets the fact that for most people the car is a starting point for modifying/improving. But two things I would disagree with;

i) it's not the best looking Mustang. I think it's WAY the best looking Mustang (my opinion, of course).
ii) it doesn't turn heads. The very opposite in my experience.

Clarkson is an egotistical knob, but he is generally a Ford fan. If he hated the Mustang I'd find it more of a reason to buy one!

However, just because something works when we are on holiday, it won’t necessarily work on a miserable Tuesday morning in November in Leamington Spa.
That's still my worry as I begin the long wait for my car to be built.

The last time I drove an American muscle car was in Florida on a great holiday under clear blue skies.
Before then I'd never given them a second thought, my order is purely based on holiday memories.

I hope the reality turns out to be as good...
