I couldn't wait any longer for the DA to go below 3,000' to show what the gears were worth....so it was time to install the Circle "D" 4K stall converter. This was a smooth job and uneventful. A flywheel/flexplate holding tool was the only specialty tool I used. When it come to jacks it's really worth getting the one a adjustable fixture. Remember I'm nearing 50, puny and did this by myself. Really no different than a Fox Body except you get to keep the headers on! Lower the tail a little put together a dozen or so extensions lol, for the top two bellhousing bolts. I made a little go no go gauge for the converter pull out, they're looking for 1/8" +_ .050, I thread the bolt in a couple of turns then push in on the bolt making sure the converter slop is gone, then finish threading the bolt by hand till it touches the flexplate, then pull out on the bolt pulling the converter to the flexplate, then I can see if I have enough or too much travel. I'd rather be under an 1/8", the next time I have it out I'll shim it tighter. And the rest is NOP (Normal Operating Procedure). Oh I almost forgot I ran 11.81 1.63 60' in 3,100' DA! Thanks TEAM BEEFCAKE & Circle D! Awesome service and top of the line parts! I've installed hundreds of converters, and Circle D is a class act from product to packaging.

Good run man! So, I assume a 4k stall would not be ideal for a street driven car?

Quite the contrary. My '14 GT sports a Circle-D 4E stall converter that flashes to 5,000 rpm's. This is my daily driver and it's very docile on the street. It only flashes to 5,000 rpm's at wide open throttle, otherwise, the rpm's and manners are very streetable.

Nice write up and nice run down the 1/4 mile, RBS550. Circle-D makes the best converter on the market. Great to see another Coyote / 6R80 in the 11's with just simple mods.

If you use shift mode you hardly notice it plus the converter lockup still works once you're about 40 mph or above 4,000 rpms in each gear, remember it progressively slips less with more rpms. It's nothing like a C4.

And remember Guys & Gals that's at 3,000' DA plus I'm having my data log reviewed for more tweaking.

Nice 60ft and ET, but the MPH at 112 seems really weak for your mods. What RPM did you go through the traps at in 4th? With the 3.73's did it shift to 4th right before the traps?

I see your sig lists a 117 MPH, was that before converter and gears? Have your tuner check the lock-up and slip,

This track always has 3 or 4 mph less than 131 MSP, I'll be back at 131MSP Wednesday weather permitting. I just couldn't wait and thought it was good to make sure everything worked & no leaks. Osceola is only 30 miles away and VERY basic, 131 is 75 miles away and state of the art. My 117.96 came from 131 MSP, and the DA was 1,300' as opposed to 3,000'. Below is the time slip. I go into 4th at about 900' and go through in 4th at 6,200. Eventually they're be gears available to wring out 4th. Oh and yes that was before gears & converter.

So flash is where you get the full "pull" from the converter? ie.. my stock converter, I can stall up to about 2000rpm with the street tires before they start to spin.. so the 4E would let me run up to almost 5k?

Thanks for the the info! I guess I am very lacking knowledge wise on stall convertors etc. Need to do some reading up.

I'm used to seeing about half a second drop in E/T from a big stall converter. So much better times are ahead. Congrats on the run and thanks for the install info and pics.

I can only get about 2,500 rpm's against the brakes when I stage at the track on drag radials. After that, the car will push through the beams. Car launches best when I hold about 2,000 rpm's against the brakes at the line.

When I let off the brakes & mash the gas pedal to the floor, the converter instantly flashes to 5,000 rpm's and away I go - typically pulling 60' times in the 1.59 to 1.64 range. And, when the trans upshifts, the rpm's never fall below the 5,000 rpm flash speed, keeping me right in the powerband the whole way down the track.

I wanted 4.10s but couldn't locate them...are yours from the Cobra Days and if so which posi did you use so the ring gear could mate up with the pinion gear?

I'd suggest trying to find somebody locally that has a converter in their car with a 6R80 and have them give you a ride this way you can see for yourself before committing to this, but in my opinion these cars need more stall badly, how much is depends on your goals. You can always have the converter reworked to get more or less stall...Circle D has more info on their site.
