I’m happy to report that I believe this issue is solved, drove all day today with no rattle :like: the main issue was that the torx screws holding in the weatherstripping trim were not even tight! What I did was undo the first few screws, move the trim closer to the frame (it was gapped a bit, less wiggle room now), tighten them, and now everything seems great. I hope this thread serves as a future reference for anybody with a similar issue.

how hard was it to put the weather striping back on? I have a similar rattle on my passenger side and seems to be coming above the window.

Bumping this, how did you get the weather stripping off?

Last year I solved an issue that turned out to be related to the passenger above-head airbag. I took apart all the interior pieces including the seat belt to get at it.

This year to fix my driver side doing a noise I thought what if I just pry down the headliner a bit, so I used some plastic pry tools and pulled out the weather stripping and that gave me plenty of access to put some felt pads up in there. Rattle gone, for 1/100th of the effort of the passenger side lol.

Not exactly related to this rattle, but kinda.

Hey I just saw this old post of yours... Do you literally just pull away at the weatherstrip to get to these screws or is there a step by step to safely removing it? I just want to be sure I'm not ruining it when I remove it and am able to get it back on properly too.

Following up to this, just pull! lol.
Fixed the issue
Hey Aaron, I need to check the same area under the weatherstrip for lose screws as I'm hearing a buzzing above my driver side window and I think this could be the culprit. What exactly did you do to safely remove the weatherstrip and put it back properly? Is it pretty straight forward?
I'm worried about ruining it if I pull away at it improperly or putting it back so it's not aligned or snug as before.

I was too, just pull straight down from the corner of the door and it'll release, then just pops back in with some effort.

Scary to do, nothing once you've done it.

Got it! so it's basically just some nudging to get the whole thing off in one piece, check the screws, and put it back snug exactly as it was?

That's it! I loosened the screws a touch then moved the slider a little to get it to not contact anywhere it could rattle.

Awesome! By moving the slider, do you mean you moved it more towards the body of the car?
Did it fix your particular buzz/rattle? Mine is coming from what sounds like above the window, a buzzing right behind my left ear, I really hope this fixes it.

Same buzzing I had, it fixed it. Play with the slider, there's not much movement but enough to fix rattles. Give everything a light tap to see if you can hear it rattle.

Do you recall the torx bit size for that screw under the weatherstrip?

I recently had a rattle start happening sometimes. Was over the passenger head. I pulled the weather stripping, tightened down these bolts, and inserted some felt padding under the plastic in a few spots.

Has fixed my rattles right up.

Again.
