Break in Period?

I believe in a break in period as well, but let me tell you first hand, it is DAMN hard to not want to put your foot to the floor and bang the gears. The power is just to appealing to not want to feel it all the time.

pick up car from dealer with 4 miles on it after pdi

put in 2nd, run to redline and coast down

put in 2nd, run to redline and coast down

finish drive to dyno

14 miles, put on dyno for wot pulls

I put a few thousand miles worth of wear on my rear tires. Made sure to vary RPM in 1st gear a bit while in the dealership parking lot.

I tried to warranty tires saying they already had excessive wear with 9.5 miles on the car.

Tires really really do need a scrub in period.

Got a really good look at a tree and some dirty britches the first time I had a new sports car.

While I'm at it, PP tires on a 50 degree or so day could use a little warm up before you turn traction control off and get froggy.

Engine break in always gets argued to death, I follow the owners manuals.
