Good morning all
Is there any video or pubblished test about performance of CF driveshaft vs OEM?
I love real data. Usually I test everything. (dyno every single component i have installed)
However,
I'm not sure if a 1100$ CF driveshaft is worth it.
Any acceleration test?
Any dyno pre and post?

Please let me know.

I would be surprised if you could see a difference between a stock driveshaft and one which was a fraction of the weight. It's just not a large enough proportion of the overall system to be able to separate the signal from the noise in your data.

F=ma. That's your real answer. If you're not carrying a mass, then you damn sure don't have to use force to move it around. There is a difference between rotating and stationary pieces on the car, but, for most of our choices, we can disregard this difference. Just look at the gross mass/dollar ratio and choose the biggest bang/buck. Since a CF driveshaft comes in at about the range of $100/pound, it can be a sexy place to spend money, but it's definitely lower on the list in terms of places to spend your money concerning weight saving.

In my building
I'm reaching that moment where details are important.
But would love to know how much important. :)

Part of being at the pointy end is that the increments of your progess get too small to see individually. It's obvious enough when you work out the mathematics or if you're able to combine several advancements into a single test, but it's not realistic to think you'll be able to distinguish a single change through logged data. The signal/noise ratio is just not there, regardless of how carefully you construct your test.

it's definetely a good point. I might just pass. It might not be worth it. The cost and the balance effort.
Thanks man

Skip to 6:31 if you just want to see the carnage. I think her car was making around 600 wheel give or take.

I've seen several DSS branded driveshafts explode like that. QA1 is the way to go if someone is planning on replacing the driveshaft. I have yet to hear of one of those failing on a Mustang.

2020 GT500, rolls out the door with a Carbon Fiber DS.
@Flyhalf , you’re asking about Transient response not an increase in measured wheel Dyno HP.
Sometimes stuff is faster without the Dyno HP numbers, it’s how and where the HP is applied.

Yep that is why was asking dyno or acceleration test.
