First I've ever heard of that order, SoCal...do hope the film edges hold on ceramic. I would want the coating on top of the film for the hydrophobic properties alone and then the film benefits from the ceramic uv filter too, not just the clearcoat.

Correct, they usually always put a ceramic coating on top of the PPF.

Yep it’s doing great after 2 years. The coating Will help protect the paint from fading . It also darkened the color just a little bit.

It also has coating on the film.

I know a bit of over kill 😂 had it done at her the stripes were painted on.

sorry to backtrack on this topic a bit, after a bit of research, and reading this topic, ceramic coating done by a pro makes the water bead off and dust stick less but it doesnt stop swirls ?

does the ceramic coating keep the glow of your car looking new?

ive bought the meguires hybrid wax, micro fibre towels, mitts, pressure cleaner (doesnt have snow foam accessory, just water)
two bucket method, blot dry, different towels for wheels, lower half etc. apply the meguires every 2-3 months

absolutely petrified of swirl marks, even though my new car already has a few tiny ones straight from the dealer, to a point that im thinking of washing my car as least as possible:) or just pressure wash the dust off and not actually use soap when the car gets dusty, so I dont touch the paint with a washmitt

should I get the professional ceramic coating done? car is garaged
I am in the exact same boat as you. I use meguires paste wax to coat my car every 2-3 months. Now I am getting a really good deal. A 10 year ceramic pro coating on the entire car for about $1200. I really want to pull the trigger but I am not sure if the ceramic pro coating will be enough of an upgrade in terms of the looks and gloss since the $40 Meguires is doing so well. Did you find anything in your research that says ceramic over wax?

Jason: It's not the coating you choose that makes the visual difference, it's the HOURS spent polishing doing the paint correction prior to ceramic. That's where that 1200 is going, towards the polishing work, not the coating. Their cost for the coating is probably around forty bux and two guys can apply ceramic to the average vehicle in half a day. I'm sure you can do the math.

My recommendation, spend the money. I seriously doubt that you'll get more than three or four years out of the coating, unless they will re-coat any time in that ten years which would be way more years than most guarantees. Even so, wouldn't alleviating the work required to apply that paste wax for the next three years be worth it? :-) Ceramic is pretty amazing but it's not for every DIY'er. Pros know the pitfalls, which are few.

My car is 3 months old at this point, I am not sure they will need to paint correct it much. I have the paste wax on and have never touched the paint of the car with any brush. I have only power washed my car since then. They said that they leave the car in overnight after applying the ceramic coat and then it is good to go the next day. It seems from my little research that it should likely need more time in the garage to keep it well. Am I correct in assuming this? They use ceramic pro btw.

Correct, the prep is very labour intensive. That is where a lot of the cost comes from.

Jason: If you mean more time for the continued curing of the ceramic, that's not the case, it cures in well under 24 hours, it'll be hard as a rock. But, if you mean keeping the vehicle garaged more than your current habit, it always helps to get paint out of the UV.

Thank you, I was referring to the curing time for the ceramic pro. Btw, is there a consensus here on which ceramic coating is better, ceramic pro or quartz?
