I had one of those days yesterday... Not because I got stuck, but adding charge pipes took a while, and when I was in the final steps. The BOV didn't fit all the way into the adapter. Had to reverse a few things and bolt everything back up until I can figure out the next steps.

Glad you figured it out.

UPR has an excellent video showing what tool to use and what method. You'll need a very long flathead screw driver.
I had the long screw driver they recommended and I couldn't get onto the clip at all. I also could barely get my arm under the manifold from above, I could barely feel the quick connect with my fingers.

I took the air intake box off, then looking straight down there's the motor mount and a series of black larger lines making a T above it, one going to the coolant grenade. Took my left hand and slide in between these two items, at this point hand was right under intake manifold, slid hand forward a few inches and was able to grab and disconnect the fitting. If you lean your head to the left/front of intake manifold while doing this you can look right at the fitting location. also used this method switching from mishimoto to upr can. I can install a catch can on an eb in like 2 minutes lol.

I think in the UPR video they have already had it disconnected honestly, then just made it look like it was super simple to unhook. Getting it from the top is one of the hardest things to do, it is much easier from the bottom, but the time it takes to jack the car up and put on jackstands I can have the intake manifold off and be done lol.

Make sure if you followed my video you didn't gut the PCV without having a check valve on the catch can system.

I did not gut the PCV. The main reason I went with the Mishi instead of the UPR can is because I was planning on keeping my PCV valve, since Ford seems to have it figured out now.

Hi Squirrel,

Apologies that you were having difficulty with this install. Upon further inspection, the install does seem more difficult than we had originally portrayed in the description and video due partially to ford's design of some components. Sometimes we forget that the engineer that has been working to develop this product for months is the one that completes the install and that they may be more efficient than those of us who are looking at the product for the first time. As enthusiasts working on our own cars we have definitely been there and understand how frustrating it can be. We will make a conscious effort to take a more neutral look at our install videos to ensure that they depict accurate install of our products.

Sara,

Thank you for responding. However, this goes much further than your video simply understating the difficulty. I can't remember all of the major problems with your company's "installation instructions", nor do I think anyone would want to read such an exhaustive list. But here are a few of my biggest complaints:

1.) No written instructions for this particular product at all. For an aftermarket add-on component this is inexcusable IMO.
2.) There is no indication AT ALL of how to disconnect the PCV line fittings. The video literally just says "disconnect the fitting" while simultaneously showing someone sliding the connection back and forth, clearly AFTER the fitting has been disconnected. You guys completely skipped the absolute hardest parts of the install!
3.) No indication of ways to approach removing the lower connection, which is the one so many people resort to removing the intake manifold for. You video doesn't even make it clear where this connection is, and it probably took me 20 minutes just to find it.
4.) No instructions on the proper orientation for mounting the bracket you supply on your own catch can. I had to watch someone else's video for reference!

This was beyond absurd. As an engineer who has often been tasked with writing technical documentation including work instructions and assembly procedures, I have to say I would be ashamed to send out a product like this with such pitiful documentation. It's a shame, because the product itself appears well made. Please tell whoever is in charge of creating your install documentation and videos to do a more thorough job next time. If he worked for me and consistently turned in this kind of work he'd probably be looking for a new job. End rant.

Hi Again,

We completely understand your frustration and agree that this video could be much more thorough. We sincerely apologize that your install was a rough one and we never want to leave our customers without the necessary information that they need for an install. I will make sure to bring this to the attention of our team and have them look into improving this video. We really do appreciate your feedback as it helps us to continue improving as a company.

Thank you,
Sara

This is the absolute easiest way, I have taken off and installed my can 5 times.
