I have a wing on the way, and have no interest in damaging the factory trunk to install it. So I am replacing my trunk lid with something carbon fiber. I know AJ Hartmann has his new deck lid, but $2K is a lot. And yes, I know how high quality his products are, and how good of guy he is. But if I don't have to Spend $2K, I don't want to.

Does anyone have any experience with TruFiber's trunk?

Or Zeta Composites?

Or VIS?

Several MFG's, like anderson composites, say no to installing a wing on theirs, so they are out of the running. I am still considering a junkyard deck lid if the price is right. Any experience from folks would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have Anderson Composites 350R wing on their OE style carbon trunk. No issues here. Not sure what you use your car for but normal Texas highway speeds it holds up great!

AC site says no to mounting a wing on it. I called just to confirm. I'm looking at something with way more downforce than the GT350 wing unfortunately, or that's the route I'd go.

Thanks, and yours looks great BTW!

I'd search for the scrap yard deck lid, it might have holes already drilled for a stock spoiler as well. It might not be real cheap either, but it would not be a problem for any spoiler you choose.

If you're going to run a dual element from Nine Lives, I wouldn't trust anything other than AJ's as he puts extra support into his trunk to handle the downforce from the wing. I'd also check to make sure the Nine Lives wing has a similar location for the mounting feet as AJ's wings do.

Given that you have a relatively normal color (compared to mine at least), have you considered checking www.car-parts.com to see who might have a white wingless trunklid that you could just bolt on? I've been looking for one, but very few options for Orange Fury trunks out there.

Nine Lives. Houston.

It hasn't shipped yet, and I still have some time if I need to cancel.
If you get a CF one u need to sustain a good amount downforce
Ninelives are good wings
So my question is..why not buying an OEM one?
And wrap CF Colour or PAINT it oem.
If you want a cheap Cf trunk u need to reinforce it a Lot. Or chassis mounting the wing.

AJ one is proven to be strong where needed but is also expensive.
Why would you like CF? to save few lbs?
Cause there are way cheaper way to do it..
My 2 cents

100% agree on all of it. I like the 10 lb savings. Especially since there's going to be a wing on it, and I just moved the battery to the trunk.

The local junkyard metal trunk is on my list. I was just hoping there was a good option in CF besides AJs. If I can snag a metal one for cheap, I'll go that route and wrap it.

It definitely sounds like there isn't a good alternative.

Just wrap it in black? Or some cool design like a flag or bald eagle (because America!). I'd go that route if I were you.

I've considered it, but haven't pulled the trigger. The money I would save with buying a Nine Lives racing wing over something like the Verus Engineering wing would be offset by having to buy a trunklid and then paint/wrap it.

Even AJ saving aint much (1 or 2 lbs)...
The lb saving doesn't justify a wing flying away😅. Lithium battery would cost less and save more..
Maybe with the money you save you should look at AJ wing..... Just saying..
Ps.. what splitter are.you running?

As others have stated, we lay up our trunks with extra reinforcements where needed to support a wing that produces substantial downforce. I wouldn't put the the wing you ordered in that category. Our Fulcrum 14 produces substantially more Df than the wing you ordered and our trunk hangs in there perfectly. Also, the 3 trunks you listed all have fiberglass backing as reinforcement where we use carbon fiber every layer, again for weight savings and strength. I totally understand the budget side of things but theres value in not having to spend a bunch of time adding a bunch of reinforcements and adding weight back to your trunk to support a wing, or like mentioned, having a trunk fail. So yes, we are more expensive than the others but for a reason. If you wanted to do a package deal shoot me a dm.

Heres how we make our trunks.

Heres mounting our Fulcrum 14 to our carbon trunk.

Several on ebay, some in better shape than others, some with shipping some not. Here's an example. A little bit of damage but you'll have to paint it anyway.
