For those that have had the interior bits a while what do you clean them with. The glossy finish is gonna show swirls really easy so I don't think the usual interior detailer used on the plastics is gonna work.
I just use 500 gsm microfiber cloth for the interior. Don’t really care for the interior as much as the exterior. All my exterior CF is clear bra with XPEL Ultimate and then ceramic coated. If u want, take the interior parts out, clean it, clay bar, and then ceramic coat it for really good protection

Clay is an abrasive brotha. Unless you're going to polish afterwards I'd skip it. Interior pieces shouldn't have bonded contaminants anyway.

In my experience (gloss carbon on a push bike), any slight marks or swirls respond really well to Meguires Scratch X :-)

Since this is the carbon fiber thread, I guess this is the best place to ask.

Does anyone make an understated carbon fiber hood? Something akin to the stock 15-17 GT hoods? I'd like to upgrade but after looking at all the carbon fiber hood options I was left very underwhelmed. All of them had such tacky over the top designs that didn't mesh with the smooth flow of the S550.

Thanks for any input.

Blue Moon I ordered the lightweight CF trunk lid made by Trufiber. I ultimately want their lightweight hood but wanted to test the trunk lid for fit and quality before plunking down ~$2K for the hood + shipping.

Trufiber Trunk Lid Install

Trufiber Carbon Fiber CS8 Trunk arrived today. It didn't come with instructions but didn't need any since swapping trunk lids is pretty easy.

My original plan was to wrap or paint the CF lid to match the factory pant but I'll have to say CF looks pretty good against the silver paint.

I'm happy with how it looks, so I went ahead and ordered the Carbon Fiber A81RL Hood (Lightweight).

Once the hood's installed, I'll decide to either keep the CF finish or go with the factory paint.

I weighed the bare stock and CF lids. Unfortunately, the bathroom scale is too small to lay the lids on it. I weighed them on their sides with a hand balancing them so they don't tip over.

Stock lid: 20.1 lbs
CF lid: 12.6 lbs

Someone else on the forum weighed the stock lid before and got around 30 lbs, and Trufiber site says their lid weighs about 15 lbs, so perhaps weighing them on their sides with a hand on them wasn't the most accurate way.

Wow you went all out on that carbon fiber. I never been a huge fan of carbon fiber some of it looks good others sort of over the top. But if done right it can look good.

Thanks, brotha! Unfortunately, Trufiber contacted me today to let me know that only hood they had left was damaged. I'm on the waitlist now but ETA for the next batch is end of July.

Now I'm crossing my fingers that my hood from Trufiber isn't delayed as long as yours...

Which one did you order? I'm getting the one with the ram air scoop. 72, I think.

What about some of both? I think it might look good to tape in from the corner of the window to the top corner of the tail light panel. This way the silver continues straight down to the tail lights, while the dark wind goes straight into the carbon and continues into the taillight panel. Maybe try it with vinyl first and see how it looks before committing to paint.

I ordered the A81RL hood. Their website said it had it in stock but I guess that must've been the damaged one they checked before shipping. Perhaps the lightweight version of hoods isn't their high volume sellers.

I recommend sending an e-mail to [email protected] to make sure they have undamaged A72RLs in stock.
