I haven't used a cover in years, since my 99 Cobra's paint took a beating from one... I want to get one this year for winter hibernation since my lady will be opening the garage to pull her SUV in and out all winter. What is out there that isn't going to beat up my paint if the wind will be hitting it when the garage door gets opened?... just had the paint corrected about a month ago... thanks

Beat up your paint from the wind hitting it when the garage door opens..? 😂
lol This sounds like a personal problem. The garage door is only open a few times a day.
Better not drive your car, like ever. Imagine the big scary powerful wind beating up that paint going 25mph on the road vs sitting in an enclosed garage...

Sarcasm and paranoia aside, Seal Skin and CoverCraft are both great brands that have nice car covers. There are also covers that have designs, stripes, ect if you are into that kind of stuff. Plenty to choose from out there to protect the paint through winter.

If it's strictly for inside a garage, make sure the cover has a soft interior lining. The one posted above from Covercraft has that.
But before you cover it, make sure you wash it first, and get rid of all dirt and dust on car before covering it. And btw, any wind hittig it, will not be much inside a garage. Try storing your car outside all year like I do. Like you learned, my car's paint got messed up from covering it all the time from the wind. Now I leave it uncovered during the driving season. It is ceramic coated, so that helps me to keep it clean. And during winter, I pull it into the back yard where it's mostly blocked from the wind. But I do cover it then for the winter snow and ice.

Yea, my cobra used to live outside for awhile which is how I found out the hard way what a cover can do in a open area with the windy city wind... also that cover was not soft on the underside. This was many years ago, so I never used them after that. I plan to clean it the best I can before pulling it in finally & covering it, I will definitely get one that is soft on the underside, thanks.

The best cover is... no cover.

Covers trap dirt, covers scratch finishes.

Garage it with no cover. When spring comes, it will be a little bit dusty... wash it proper.

I bought a custom fit SpeedForm car cover from American muscle. It fits nice and tight and I have used it during the winter months for the last 3 years. It has a soft lining, is breathable and is all weather. I have not seen any issues with the cars paint. No abrasions or scratches. Granted it's not a cheap cover and I would never use a cheap one. Spend the money for a good one and I think you'll be ok.
