Except aren't the coolant reservoirs and the 12v battery under the frunk insert?
You know a lot more about the Mach-E than I want to there dude.

Aren't most EV owners the kind of person who will never check those things? 🤷‍♂️
They're people who revel in telling us how simple their cars are, and sometimes they're even wrong about that. 😄
"tHeY dOn'T hAvE gEaRs." Yeah, they do. They just don't shift gears.
We can probably look up the gear ratio on the Mach-E, just like we can for most EVs.

EDIT: Just remembered the Porsche and Audi EVs shift gears. 😁
Tesla said "You can't make a gear-changing transmission for an EV"
and Porsche was like "Hold mein bier." 🍻

That sounds like a you problem.
My only complaint with the car is Ford associating it with the Mustang name. They had many fine legacy marques they could have used that would have been more appropriate to an electric sport style SUV. There's nothing anymore inherently wrong with it than any other fully electric vehicle other than Ford trying to hijack the name.

Most folks that purchase the Performance level ( DH , Mach, GT350 ,GT500 ) don't track them , so a heavy cast wheel is not an issue. They are nice looking wheels, and if the owner decides to track the car , lighter wheels are on them . The cost would be passed on if Ford installed better wheels.
Again in most cases they're not needed.
Don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve owned quite a few cars, and while I never had an OEM wheel crack, I had a least two aftermarket ones that have. Some popular brands at the time and still are.

OEM C7 Grand Sport wheels are notorious for that

Well, I took delivery of my 25 Dark Horse wheels and tires. Like the look, but did Ford have to have their cast aluminum wheel(s) made in the People's Republic of China?

If the car of my dreams costs $30,000 and I can afford that, then I'll surely be willing to pay $30,001 if that's what it takes to have a light bulb in the glovebox. Just don't insult me by removing it covertly, hoping I'm too stupid to notice.
The Mustang equivalent is the single horn they omitted on the 2019 MY cars...

Don’t get me started. This was one of the really dumb one. Actually a real safety issue. I bought the second horn and had my dealer install it. 😡

I was looking at a set of Dark Horse wheels for my 2022 and couldn't believe Ford put cast aluminum wheels on the base DH. How stupid and foolish. Over 60 grand for a performance car with cast aluminum wheels.
The GT350 wheels were cast as well. I guess I think about this differently than some, but my main requirements for wheels are that they are strong and they look good.

Yes, I take my car to the track occasionally, but I'm not racing for prizes. I just want to have fun. Safety is more important to me than running a lap a couple seconds faster. I've never had a factory Ford wheel fail, and I like that.

I'm running Mach 1 handling pack wheels on my 2017. I think they look good, they accommodate wide tires and they are strong enough that I'm confident in them. Yes I could have gone with Apex and 11" wide all around, but I like the appearance of the Mach 1 wheels more. To me they are good enough. I'm happy with how quickly the car laps.

Yeah, I really wanted a C7 GS and that is one of the reasons I didn't buy one. I can understand why the GS has this issue. That suspension is STIFF! It has magneride and it's punishing even on a smooth road in comfort mode. I can't imagine how much force it will apply to the wheels in track mode hitting the curbing at your local road course.

It's also a rattle trap. I was shocked by how much rattling even a low mileage C7 GS exhibits.

There's a Grassroots Motorsports test that is applicable to this discussion where they looked at track times in a Miata with wheel weights changed by 11 lbs each. In a 56-57 second lap, the lighter wheels saved 0.3-0.5 seconds per lap. This was a stock Miata - a Mustang makes a lot more power and the impact will be less. In my opinion, the light weight wheels aren't worth it. But for other people they might think it's completely worth it.

Despite all that, it’s still my favorite C7. Would not be a car I’d take on longer road trips though

I guess I'm getting old. I love the C7 GS in theory, but it's too race car for me. I wouldn't want to even commute to work in it. I found it unpleasant. I got back in my Camaro after test driving the GS and it was a wonderful feeling. Quiet, roomy, easier to see out of, the suspension is soft by comparison, and the Camaro was plenty sporty enough to have fun driving around in. I can understand why the original owner of the car I tested only put about 900 miles per year on it.

Oh yeah, that was really dumb. Luckily they reverted it when they realized how disgustingly stingy it made them look. Or rather when they were flooded with warranty claims for the "broken" horn.

Still, that wasn't as bad as the aluminum shift forks. I still can't believe how incredibly lucky I was to dodge that bullet. Had I ordered my car just a little earlier, I would have taken a big hit. And I can guarantee that "penny pinching is okay because it gives people jobs" wouldn't have crossed my mind for a second.
