Haven't any of you heard that a few of the "Luxury" brands are now gonna charge a subscription fee for heated seats, etc!!!!
That's WAY worse if you ask me.

Yeah, BMW tried that, it didn't work out so well for them. They scrapped it very quickly.

That's a great way to remove your product from a list of possible options.

I already didn't like those brands. 😄
You've just given me one more reason to avoid them.

I hate that we are calling $40k an econobox. I remember when a new Corvette on the showroom floor was $10k out the door. I'm old....
No, I didn't mean to call it that. I meant it's absurd when a $40k car lacks basic features that even an econobox has, all in the name of saving a few cents that the customer would be happy to pay.

Although, come to think of it, some of what we used to call econoboxes are indeed approaching $40k these days. At least their top trim levels are. So you do have a point there.

I would expect cheap wheels on a base model when that model comes with track and handling packages. I don't believe most people even enthusiasts know what their wheels are made of or weigh, and can tell the difference by 10lb less unsprung weight on their tires to care about the extra expense.

I'm not that surprised...the base C8 Corvette and BMW M2 come with cast wheels and they cost even more than a DH.

It bothered me more that for years Ford put skinny 8" wide wheels with 235 mm all season tires on the Mustang GT as standard equipment. Not nearly good enough for safely harnessing 460 HP.
Hell the 255/275s aren't enough tire. The Stagger on the PP1 is dangerous. The car has so much push in the turns its criminal. 285s should be minimum. Went flow forged wheels/tires and dropped 10.4lbs on each front corner and 11.9lbs on the rears. It made a notable difference. Your average driver probs wouldn't notice, but they aren't on this forum either. We are the very small minority.

Agreed. I had those oem wheels and tires you are talking about amd the car felt dangerous

Ford is no better really.
They are sealing the frunk on the 26 model year of the MachE unless you pay extra for access. Yes, they are charging extra for access to a part of the car that you already paid for.

As I said, off the list of possible options. Yet another reason in the case of the MockE.

Ford removed the frunk because they had data barely anyone was using it, so they could save you some $$ if you choose. You are knocking them for letting you choose not to get something you might never use?

That doesn't seem worse than selling people 460hp V8s with 255 width tires to me which I would argue is the real crime.

Except aren't the coolant reservoirs and the 12v battery under the frunk insert? Which means that you can't preform basic maintenance like checking fluid levels or changing a bad 12v battery without an upcharge.
What it is is an encroachment on ownership and right-to-repair. And, bottom line, it makes you pay extra for something you already own.

I might have missed this but does anyone know the number one mod for our Mustangs? Yup, you got it, wheels and tires. Ford isn't stupid. They know fully well that no matter what type of wheel they use and what size tires they use someone, most likely on this forum, will complain about it. Since its a lose, lose proposition they will go with the minimum required.

I don't disagree.
But that wasn't the point of my post.
If Ford is willing to limit your ownership of one vehicle what leads you to believe they won't extend it to other models in their lineup?
They're not only penny pinching on wheels, tires, glove box lights, etc, etc they are laying the groundwork to deprive you of intrigal parts of a vehicle you are buying and the ability to diy maintaince and repair.
