That's probably true, but not necessarily. Car and Driver interviewed the Ford guy responsible for exhaust noise levels. Specifically they asked how Ford gets away with such loud exhausts in the Mustang. He basically said that there is no national limits and every town, county, state can have their own limits and can change any time so Ford can't please them all.
Right, but I think that the new CA law (correct me if I'm wrong) is regarding aftermarket mufflers and exhaust and not necessarily dB levels, although each municipality does have some sort of noise ordinance.

So regardless of volume, the new law that was passed would have no effect given that the mufflers are OEM. And even if you get *caught* with a loud exhaust, all you have to do is press a button and boom you have super quiet exhaust and the officer would not be able to cite you for excessive noise.

Why do you have to worry about the new CA law? Your exhaust is OEM so there's no worry. Also, if you're worried about the cops still why not put it in quiet mode when pulled over or interacting with a CHP if you say it's pretty quiet.

The active exhaust seems perfect for CA laws. Dead quiet when you need it, and still loud to enjoy the sound when you can.

H-pipes are not OEM.

And yes, the plan if I ever get pulled over is to put it on quiet mode and hope for the best.

So I have H pipes on my 18 with active exhaust. Quiet is still very quiet, then normal jumps up the DB very quickly. Sport and Track are what you would expect.

Is there any way to adjust where the little damper sits when on the normal setting?
Thanks for any help.

ok so I have somethin you might like. I’ve had my 2020 Bullitt active exhaust adjusted.
so basically when it’s in quiet mode the more you accelerate the louder it becomes as the valves open and close according to where the throttle pedal
Is. I like quiet mode but I wanted it to pick up as you accelerate.
It really does sound great.

cheers

I’m not sure where you’re located specifically, but I visit SoCal/LA region a few times a year. I’ve never seen anyone pulled over on the highways or surface streets. I feel like the traffic is so heavy there the highway patrol doesn’t even bother with anything but the most egregious offenses. I have Nevada plates though so I don’t really worry about anything anyway but I’m curious how it is for someone local.
