Right, but I think that the new CA law (correct me if I'm wrong) is regarding aftermarket mufflers and exhaust and not necessarily dB levels, although each municipality does have some sort of noise ordinance.That's probably true, but not necessarily. Car and Driver interviewed the Ford guy responsible for exhaust noise levels. Specifically they asked how Ford gets away with such loud exhausts in the Mustang. He basically said that there is no national limits and every town, county, state can have their own limits and can change any time so Ford can't please them all.
So regardless of volume, the new law that was passed would have no effect given that the mufflers are OEM. And even if you get *caught* with a loud exhaust, all you have to do is press a button and boom you have super quiet exhaust and the officer would not be able to cite you for excessive noise.
