Not every locksmith can program or cut these keys. Heck, most dealers can't, or won't, cut the emergency key.I had to go to the dealership to get a second key made. I tried a locksmith but they did not have the ability to make a 2021/2022 Mustang key at that time.
I bought an OEM key online for $100, and the dealership charged me another $150 to cut/program it.
I just had to replace the fob batteries for my 2018, that I have had since new. I replaced because the "low key fob battery" message popped up in the dash cluster.Side question, how long do the batteries tend to last.
I.E. should you think of replacing them every 3 years or 4?
I was asking as one fob never gets used. just sits in a draw.I just had to replace the fob batteries for my 2018, that I have had since new. I replaced because the "low key fob battery" message popped up in the dash cluster.
So for me, the fob battery only lasted 5 years. Is that normal life span for a fob battery that is used almost daily? I don't even know, but that was my interval.
