I am rather surprised to see that it appears to be impossible to buy genuine racing tires. You know, slicks for circuit racing.

I did not know they weren't available to regular morons such as we the merry bunch here.

Huh. Am I wrong there?

Could we toss a set on and enjoy 50-100 miles of ultimate grip on the back-roads, before they wear-out?

If you really want to spend the dough, you could get a set of hoosiers which are pretty close and just about the fastest tire out there

I looked at Hoosier racing tires, they supply a few racing series. You gotta be part of a racing series to buy them. It appears as if you order them prior to the race, and they're delivered to the track for you.

Delivered to your door. And you can definitely get them on tire rack. R7 or A7. I forgot which is the faster of the two

?????
You have plenty of places that sell racing tires
As for using them on the street, that would be a total waste because they would never reach the temperature range that they are designed for

A7 heat up pretty quickly. There are a few DOT legal slicks like these out there. TireRack sells Hoosiers and others. Many slicks aren’t DOT legal for street use.

Here in Texas your tires may be up to temp just sitting in the garage (j/k of course, but man its been a hot summer)

Hysterical!!! Oh my.

Only two there are real slicks, but it's great to see there's at least two options.

On Tirerack.com, there weren't any racing tires when I searched for tires for my car.

Real racing slicks are fun but if it rains more than a drizzle you will experience four wheel steering in the worst way. ;)
