Your guess is as good as mine
I wonder if Ford would want to put themselves under pressure to hit certain anniversaries. S550 only just made it's own 50th birthday party (I'm talking about the actual April 17th date....there were cars on show, but nowhere near on sale).....and the GT350 only just made the 50th year with 137 '15MY cars made.
Ford would need to broker a rights deal with Warner Brothers for the Bullitt, too. I remember a few years back, there were rumours of a remake with Brad Pitt (if I recall correctly). If that had happened and the car was featured in the film, that would have been very cool. However, the rumours of the remake seem to have died off. That being said, back in the "ideation" stage of creating the S550, photos of Steve McQueen and the '68 Fastback featured in images around the studio, so Ford clearly recognises the importance of the film.
However, the Mach 1 rumour seemed stronger. I think that rumour broke around August last year, shortly after Ford re-registered the trademark. Of course, that could just be business as usual, as Ford still sell parts and regalia featuring the Mach 1 name.
Still, where there's smoke, there's often fire, and we've seen no smoke about Bullitt.....but we have a little Mach 1 smoke. For what it's worth
