i would love to see a new bullitt but the odds have to be slim. the 08/09 was not a success as far as sales and from ford's perspective its probably time for a mach 1, gt500 or something else. having owned an 01 and an 08, i hope (assuming it gets built) they make a car that is reflective of the movie car. the car should be highland green only.......with torq thrust wheels. no red calipers like the 01 and no faux gas gap like the 08. make it a modern version of the movie car and do not put a bullitt emblem on it. the car is not bullitt, the guy driving it was. this could potentially solve any issues with warner bros or whoever else wanting a handout for it being produced.

Ok with the 2017 Mustang color chart released and Guard gone it is time to start a gossip/wish list for the 2018 50th anniversary Bullitt Mustang. Makes sense for Ford to pull the green shade (Guard) for a year before the Bullitt returns.

Predictions:

#1: Ford will continued to stick with Dark Highland Green as they did in 01/08/09 instead of using the original Highland Green.

#2: V8 based with a stiffer suspension

#3: unique exhaust sound with possible GT350 activated tips.

#4: auto and manual tranny
1. I have an 08 Bullitt and the color on the 08 is actually "Highland Green Clearcoat Metallic" and is slightly different from the "Dark Highland Green" on the 2001s and the "Highland Green" on the original.

2. This is obvious. A Bullitt could never be anything but a V8.

3. Definitely. Would love those exhaust modes.

4. Given Ford's devotion to the manual on cars like the GT350, Focus RS, ST models, etc., I can't imagine them making a Bullitt with an Automatic. It would be one of those things where Steve McQueen wouldn't have approved, so it won't happen.

I hope they at least offer highland green. If they decide to do a Bullitt, I hope they dont ruin it and have "Bullitt" in 500 different places.
It couldn't be a Bullitt without having Highland Green available. Sure, they'll also offer black, but without HG, it'd just be another black Mustang. They've been pretty good about not overdoing Bullitts in the past. My 08 only says "Bullitt" in 5 places on the entire car (Faux rear gas cap, steering wheel, door sill plates, and strut tower brace) and beyond that, it has no badging of any any kind. The 01s were a little bit more "showy", but still very subdued.

But if Steve McQueen was still alive, he might appreciate a nice new 10-speed auto :p
If Steve McQueen were still alive, he'd be 86. I have to think Ford would develop a car that mimics the legend of what McQueen was at his prime. Not the kind of car an old elderly guy might want.

Just to add a little fuel to the very small fire of Bullitt rumors, Autoblog mentions wanting a Bullitt edition in their article about the 2018 spy shots: http://www.autoblog.com/2016/09/27/refreshed-ford-mustang-spied-testing/
Might just be the writer's bias, but it's nice to hear we're not the only ones that want a new Bullitt. The last sentence says they expect to see a special edition debut alongside the refresh in the next few months though, so if they're to be believed if the SE isn't a Bullitt the only other option is Mach1. Hope they're right, it'll be good news either way.

I was at the Petersen Breakfast Cruise-In in LA late last month and had a guy come up to me and say he's got a Bullitt scoop. According to him at a recent charity event (not sure which one) during a Q&A with Chad McQueen someone asked what he's working on next and he said he's been working on something with Ford currently. I'd love to know if anyone that went to a Chad McQueen charity event can validate this. If it's true I can't think of anything else they could be working on other than a new Bullitt.

Let's hope so, Matt!

Now, annoyingly I recall seeing Chad McQueen mentioned in my Facebook feed a few days back and I never liked or opened the link......but it was to do with something he'd recently attended. I shall have to search, but I suspect it'll be a fruitless one :frusty:

Edited - it may have been this I saw....or related to it, although this has no links to Ford, that I'm aware of:

Ah okay cool. It must have been before that since the guy talked to me on October 30th about it. I'm guessing it was the annual 'Friends of Steve McQueen' event which happened mid-September this year.

I asked a friend of mine, who works at an exterior centric group at Ford.

"Will there be a Bullitt next year?"

They cracked ever so slight of a smile, and shoulder shrug.

I guess a wry smile and a shrug of the shoulders is all he can give.....otherwise Ford would give him a bullet of his own ;)
