Well, I called the manager of the RAV department. He said he is going to pull the file, hand it to the case worker, and have her call the dealership TODAY and let them know that everything is set, and they can release the vehicle.

Once again, I was the one who had to bark up the tree, but, hopefully I'll get the car today.

Pretty crazy, this thread has almost 9,000 views. My story certainly has gone around. I will probably make a little youtube video dedicated to my experience with this whole process as well, and I will probably be writing to Ford to let them know how awful of an experience this has been as well.

I would have thought the case handler would have called by now, but, still nothing. I called the dealership to let them know that they should be expecting a call today, and he said he still hasn't gotten a call, but he will call me as soon as he gets off the phone with them.

I mean, really... How hard is it to make a 1 minute phone call.

"The financing is finalized and the customer is good to go"

Thats literally all that is keeping me from my new car.

Sigh.

Jesus! You could write a book on this ordeal. I'm thinking of just going straight to BBB because they have strict enforceable deadlines. My regional case manager still has not returned a single phone call or email.

Yea no kidding.

I called the manager of the RAV department back just now, and he said that he would call the dealer himself.

So, in theory, just waiting on a call from the dealer. I apologized to the manager, and told him that I just really trying to get my car today. He didn't seem bothered, so that's a plus.

I just want my Gd'ing car already

Called the dealer again. The manager of RAV did get a hold of them. I guess they asked him to email over information regarding the financial portion so they have paper proof. Once the dealer gets that, and the GM signs off on it I can get the car.

Not sure if this is going to be a today thing, or what...

17LightningGT you are being a prince about this. I ordered a new 1982 Mustang GT and after it came in I had tons of stuff wrong. The dealer could not find an intermittent problem after taking it there many times. Finally I got my VOM out and after a couple of hours found that the power wire into the back of the fuse box had not been snapped in properly at the factory. Quick fix.
Then about a month after I owned this silver GT I was sitting on my front porch looking at the car and could see the red primer showing through the silver paint. Apparently they never put enough coats on to properly cover the primer.
Mind you I ordered this car new. I finally got ticked off enough to contact Ford and make a BIG deal out of it.
Finally the Ford rep said "good grief, what will make you happy?" I said " a new car". He said that wasn't going to happen (today I'm not so sure about that). So they re-painted the lower 1/2 of the car. It looked just fine, but no excuse for the re-paint.
Moral of the story: as previously stated, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. If you think you are being too aggressive, you aren't. Just don't be disrespectful in your words, but be firm. I would make sure they put a new long block in. No reason not to. That crap flies around in the crankcase and can damage other parts. Remember the area we are referring to includes oil galleys. Nope. Tell them you want, you demand, a new long block. Just my opinion.
1982 was the dark days, 1 year warranties, dealerships were far worse then than now and no lemon laws for a few years yet at least none in Illinois. I went through a nightmare with Pontiac in 1983, first year for aluminum rims, the finish started peeling off after a few months. Pontiac stated it must be how I'm washing the wheels, then loud noise inside the engine right after the warranty expired, no joy from Pontiac.

I switched to Ford after that and bought a 1985 5.0 LX Coupe and the same thing happened to the wheels. Took it to the dealer, they replaced all 4, found a rear brake line that might become an issue and fix that as well and paid for the tow (not part of the warranty) so I've been buying Ford's ever since.

These stories freak me out, hoping mine is fine for the long haul.

Yea.. but still lol my 2017 literally came off the car carrier and I bought it And took it home a few days after. Not sure if it saw rain in transport, but it didn’t look like it had after it was offloaded. No one drove that car other than the ford assembly plant and the offloader lol.

My 2018 was driven 150 miles from Ohio. I asked them to have it trailered, but they did a dealer trade so some lucky SOB drove my car . Prior to that, it was inside the dealers showroom in Ohio.

I’m lucky enough to have a cheap daily driver, which takes care of my to and from work duty. I’m a Purchasing Agent at an RV manufacturer, and parking in a parking lot full of line workers who don’t give a crap wouldn’t be ideal lol
Oh the stories from hell about RV build quality and the horrors of trying to get RV manufacturers to fix items properly while under warranty.... :frusty:

Good luck, I know what this kind of waiting is like.

Lol I am about to come UNGLUED.

The dealer talked to the manager of RAV. The dealer asked that RAV send an email confirming. That was two or so hours ago. Called the dealer, and they have not received a SIMPLE email.

Tried calling RAV, the manager is magically in a meeting. My case worker has gone home. Her supervisor is on the phone, and they refused to let me wait on hold.

Sigh.

It's amazing how the simplest things seem to be so difficult in situations like this. I admire your patience and decency though lol.

Just spent the last 45 minutes on a conference call.

-dealer
-rav
-myself
-ford credit

We all conversed.

Heres the result. The dealer NEVER submitted the new finance application. They were instructed by RAV to secure new financing and they didnt.

From what RAV told the group, once the new financing is secured, I am free to go and get the vehicle.

Still hope that it can happen today, but Im severely doubtful

I should have just done the damn buyback and gone and went to another manufacturer...

What a nightmare of a situation.

You can’t do that at this point?
Probably could, but Im in it THIS far already. Literally all that is left is to be approved for the loan, and then go get the car.

Hopefully.

They should be able to get you approved in minutes.
