Just like the title says. Can get both for about the same price, Performance pack car. I would have to go 265/35 front and 285/35 rear with the Bridgestone's, Stock Size with the MPSS. Have a friend with a McLaren 570 that swears by the RE-71's but what are your opinions/thoughts. Car is a daily that might do 2-3 track days a year (road and 1/4 mile) and is just a FBO E85 car, no forced induction.

Thanks

RE71Rs are much quicker than MPSS, but also wear that much faster. I wouldn't daily the RE71R. They have amazing dry grip but are faily loud and harsh. MPSS is a much, much better (one of the very best) daily street tires. The PS4S is a better performer on track than the MPSS, and similar price and street manners.

Based on this statement, MPSS without a doubt. You will not get the benefit from the RE71Rs on a daily that doesn't see much track use and you will most likely burn through them rather quickly with a lot of miles. The MPSS will fit your needs as that tire is amongst the best performing tire on the street with great wear and can take the occasional track outing without too much issue.

RE71Rs are a track focused tire intended to be run to and from the track. My car is my daily driver that gets tracked hard 10-12 times a year and I would never consider running those RE71Rs full time. I ran the PS4S for quite a while and they took the track abuse quite well for an entry level driver.

I assume your friend with the McLaren is not concerned with the expense of tires so it would make sense that he would want the stickiest "streetable" tire he can get.

I recently replaced my 555 G2s with PSS's and I am 100% satisfied. They are way smoother, quieter, and grippier than the Nittos ever were. Definitely worth the extra bucks.

I'm not sure why anyone gets those outside of them being available on AM or LMR. There are many better options for the same/almost same price or even just a little more.

Thanks guys. Sounds like the MPS4's are the route I'm going. Is everyone running the 4s compounds? There's about a $200 price difference between the 4s and the MPSS's on tire rack, so if its worth it (I have an all season set for Fall/Winter) I've got no problem spending a bit more if there is a noticeable difference.

The folks I've talked to who've run both say the 4S is worth it. Better/more durable on track, faster, just as good in the wet and on the street.

I was so desperate to get rid of my P Zeros... They were still a huge improvement.

I ran the 4S on my car and did my first ever track day (Barber's) with those tires. It was raining pretty hard most of the day and the high was about 40 degrees. Keep in mind I had never been on a track before. My instructor was blown away at my abilities and couldn't believe my confidence. I assured him it wasn't me and it was indeed my first time. After the first run he looked at my tires and said "oh that makes sense". I was able to run intermediate wet times as a novice because of how much wet grip the Michelins have, it's INSANE!!! If you get a square set up you can expect to get about 30k out of the tires. That's awesome wear considering how much grip they have.

Do you know what size squared will work up front? I don't want to rub on the shock tower, I'm on Eibach pro springs if that helps. You run 275's?

Depends entirely on the wheel size and offset. You can just get 305s underneath the fender (requires track camber settings of -2.5 deg+) but it'll be mighty close to the strut. Typically most run 275 or 285 square.
